🚨NEW STUDY DROP🚨 Paper re-describes many of the specimens applied to the Pinacosaurus genus. New species, Pinacosaurus hilwitnorum, is named from specimens applied to P. grangeri. P. mephistocephalus is too distinct and put in a new genus, Eopinacosaurus. 🎨: @AndreyAtuchin

A little Walking With Dinosaurs re-imagining. There's a common misconception that the polar allosaur in Spirits of the Ice Forest is (or is based off) Australovenator. This is impossible, since Australovenator fossils weren't discovered until 2006, 7 years after the show aired.

@KGamer1569 But I love them just the same because, although they arrived in Europe 2 million years after the mammoths, they still occupied southern Europe. And their skull evolution was very dramatic and fascinating.
