I am happy to share that I have been promoted to Full Professor at the University of Toronto as an Academic Emergency Physician. I would not have been able to achieve this recognition w/o the most incredible mentors & learners who pushed me to aim higher and strive to be better.

@md_frost Way too many "med twitter" people almost appear like AI driven bots that deliver hot-takes on the latest issue in the news (to your point - diverse, unrelated, likely require deep context to understand). It's disheartening.

We always talk about how stretched, short staffed we are. Which is obviously true. I just want to recognize and shout out everyone still on the front lines in healthcare, day in and day out picking up the slack. 👏👏👏

@hswapnil Thank you for sharing! I've seen several patients post-Paxlovid develop significant adverse events in this day 6-10 day window. I'm wondering if its paxlovid or something Omicron subvariant specific

@ASPphysician @MPaiMD @PaulSaxMD @DrToddLee I totally agree, although you'd know a lot more about this than I would. I'm batting at something around 80% with this in both the unvaccinated and vaccinated population (older). It's this 5 day period of minimal symptoms, only to have +++ symptoms/issues days 6-10.

Noticing an increasing number of unfilled family medicine positions in the #CARMS2022 match. For anyone that has not matched in the first round and is considering #FamilyMedicine please do not hesitate to direct message me here on Twitter and I am happy to chat.

@tara_kiran Hopeful as well, but this is disheartening! Do we have a decent understanding of some of the key drivers for this drift? I'm not as involved with undergrads but I want to help more pursue family medicine!

Excited to welcome a new cohort of residents to family medicine July 1 👏🏽🥳 But disheartened that there seems to be declining interest among med students to choose family medicine as a career ☹️ Hopeful that opening up capitation and team-based spots in Ontario will help 🌞

Best of luck to everyone in the #CARMS2022 match! Two things: 1. Your identity is more diverse and robust than where you match. 2. Residency is > med school and staff life is > residency. Lots to look forward to!

@md_frost Great take and I’ve always appreciated your capacity for nuance and complexity! I think more “extreme” political views, one way or the other certainly cloud judgement and make the actual job of being a regular old doctor more challenging, esp in this climate

It’s a good time to remind myself and others that the vast, vast majority of Canadians support healthcare workers wholeheartedly.

Healthcare workers went to work for two years despite a novel, deadly virus. We left our cars on the highway to walk to work in a blizzard to treat all comers. We will continue to treat patients in our scrubs despite the fringe threats and traffic inconvenience
