So I don’t normally post on here but looking for advice from any of my physio colleagues/friends. My daughter has just been diagnosed with scoliosis and we are looking to be seen in Edinburgh. Does anyone have experience in this or direct me to someone?? Thanks

@k8purcellphysio I talk about the calorific content of 1lb of fat and equate that to exercise. Exercise helps but weight loss needs good dietary control and small changes over time can be very effective

Interested in approaches for patients with eg knee OA who say they can’t lose weight because they can’t exercise. What resources or spiels do you use to address this?

It’s entirely possible to issue med3 sick notes from hospital As this patient’s consultant, I have a better idea about the period of sick leave needed versus their GP

General Practice is a medical specialty. In order to work as a GP, the MRCGP is & SHOULD be a necessary requirement. For the sake of patient safety, NOTHING less is acceptable. Practices should never have been flooded with PAs & ARRS staff as GP replacements.

So my HCPC hearing into my ‘fitness to practice’ that’s been ongoing since 2018 due to a coordinated attempt by those who hate me the most is finally back on after being cancelled last year! However, they are now telling me that all the previous testimonies and character statements that over 500 of you kindly provided are “no longer relevant” which is utter BS but I have to play their games and so I am in need of some more please! @DrEilidhMaria Physiotherapists have been seeing undifferentiated MSK pain for many years. The model of fcp when done correctly is great.

@rheumipainmask @Dr__Sarmy Depends where you work. Personally our service has been affected but certainly not decimated.

🚨 This ARRS bullsh!t is seriously getting out of hand. 🩺 Saw a 67F lady with suspected scabies - itchy rash “crawling under skin” w/ typical appearance of burrows on arms. All started after staying in outdoor lodge on holiday. For Pemethrin etc. All seem straightforward? 💊 Except the pt thought she had been seen by a doctor at the PCN Hub last week, who wasn’t sure what the rash was, googled it (no 2nd opinion sought) & then prescribed 3 weeks of Doxycycline “just in case”. WTAF. 📝 *checked notes* turns this person was a Pharmacist & the pt had no idea. 🤦🏽‍♂️ 🤦🏽‍♂️ 🤦🏽‍♂️. 🚨 This ARRS (aka GP replacement) Ponzi scheme needs to be stopped asap. It is a complete waste of time & precious NHS resources, at a significant cost to the taxpayer & the nation’s health. @wesstreeting you made big promises pre-election re NHS reform - anytime time now would be great. 🚨 Scrap ARRS. 🚨 Fund General Practice properly!!

@rheumipainmask @Dr__Sarmy The beauty of this is that we can disagree. I fully agree primary care needs more funding and better resources, however I wholeheartedly think for MSK conditions, a FCP is better.

@Graysphysio @Dr__Sarmy With self referral physiotherapy, you can still do that and I agree with need for great information early on. No need to occupy a limited space in GP to do it as it should be done via community physio

@Graysphysio @Dr__Sarmy I would rather have a GP to do that and have access to self referral physiotherapy I’m not a physiotherapist- that expertise is special & that’s what I want a physiotherapist to focus on rather than look at bloods/ do referrals- not sure why this is controversial

@rheumipainmask @Dr__Sarmy I also agree primary care needs way more funding however I believe what I do adds value to both the patient and the primary care team. Pt sees the right person at the right time

@rheumipainmask @Dr__Sarmy That’s the issue what I do in primary care is not the same as self referral to physio. 2 very different job roles.

@Graysphysio @Dr__Sarmy Community physio were funded via 2° care Physios in ARRS are funded thru 1°care (But also their leaving community physio has meant a collapse of services) Funding for 1°care is now <6% of NHS budget Self Referral to community physio is the best option for all
