Yesterday, our Regeneration Skills Academy visited Ashton as the town centre undergoes major development to renew the historic market ground. Thank you to @TamesideCouncil for hosting us and sharing Tameside’s future plans. A town centre tour highlighted how Ashton is building on successes like @ashtonoldbaths while progressing new transformative projects. In the afternoon, we heard from Bek Seeley, from Place Partners UK, about the key fundamentals for making the case when seeking investment for regeneration projects. Through the Regeneration Skills Academy, we’re building the skills needed to deliver ambitious regeneration across Greater Manchester. 🚴‍♀️ The world’s best cyclists are heading to Manchester! 🚴‍♀️ The routes for the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift 2027 have now been revealed, with Manchester set to host the Stage One finish on Friday 30 July and the Stage Two start on Saturday 31 July.

Faith and belief communities from across Greater Manchester came together as part of the GM Live Well movement, grounded in a shared belief that we can only truly live well when all of us live well. Representatives from across Greater Manchester discussed how community, trust and mutual flourishing are all at the heart of creating spaces where people feel safe, supported and celebrated - where everyday acts of care, from food and family support to sanctuary and connection are helping people live well in our neighbourhoods. The event celebrated the power faith organisations bring to Live Well, through the trust they have in their communities. And how, when that trust is recognised and connected into a wider movement, it opens up new possibilities for collective action. Greater Manchester's approach to preventing violent crime and keeping communities safe is working, with the homicide rate, knife crime, personal robberies and ambulance callouts for assault all falling. “These latest figures show the real progress being made in tackling violent crime and making our streets safer. “Reductions in knife crime and homicides don’t happen by chance – they come from early intervention, our strong partnership with the police and our work with communities to tackle the root causes of violence.” Find out more about the difference our Violence Reduction Unit's is making here: orlo.uk/gZluu

This June, Greater Manchester will host a new international event, delivered in partnership with Global Government Forum, bringing city and local government leaders together to shape the future of AI in cities.
