If we really want to get our species through the climate crisis, we should put home ec classes back in schools. Knowing how to fix, mend, sew, and cook shouldn’t be luxuries. Every person should know these things, and teaching them is good climate policy.

I saw this guy wearing a MAGA hat in the store, with some lady, he’s on his cell phone and says, “I’m running late at the gym Susan, I’ll be right there.” I yelled out, “No he’s not Susan, he’s at the store with another lady.” Nobody lies to Susan in front of me.

If I had to guess I'd wager that their shared cognitive decline is affecting the two candidates differently because one is running as a chaos demon promising to wreak havoc in Washington and the other is running on a platform of stability and competence

@bronwynwilliams I’m not a storyteller. I’m a builder and systems designer. Y’all who think of yourselves as storytellers need to get some better stories because the ones you are telling now end badly for humanity in the not-distant future.

@bronwynwilliams Right. Full speed ahead into the wall. Because it’s cool. If we don’t develop wisdom proportionate to our power, we will not remain a technological species. The path you glorify is the path back to being hunter-gatherers, on a much less hospitable planet. Sounds like fun, eh?

Moral of the story : We need gods to get things done. (Can’t wait to see the towers of Babel we will build to placate the AI gods - giant Vegas orb anyone??)

@MustangPrairie I've wonder where the flow batteries are. It seems like an ideal technology for stationary storage, because you can choose power and energy capacity independently, based on context and need. But everything that gets installed seems to be Li-based. What's holding back flow tech?

@crapshoot101 @dsquareddigest @mateosfo @khoslaventures I don't believe you. If they had done anything remotely like decent technical due diligence, they would never have made most of those biofuel investments back in the 2010's.

@GreenEngineer42 @dsquareddigest @mateosfo No expert, but @khoslaventures certainly did when I was there. It was part of the process of evaluating and I suspect many of the hard science funds continue to do so
