🇸🇪 A major dispute reportedly occurred between Eddie Howe and Alexander Isak, with a second "turning point" in April. The initial conflict came to a head in September 2024, when Howe became "fed up" with Isak's "sulking" and poor performances at the start of the 2024/25 season. A particularly poor outing against Fulham reportedly pushed Howe to confront the player, according to reports today. During the confrontation, Howe reportedly delivered some "strong words," telling Isak he was a Newcastle player and needed to act like an elite one. This moment was initially hailed as a win for Howe's man-management, and it was a key reason why the club's plan for the summer was to keep Isak. But the success was short-lived. Isak’s attitude reportedly shifted dramatically after Newcastle won the Carabao Cup. Insiders commented that he became "quiet and withdrawn" and began to show a lack of focus and effort in training. There is a strong claim that after scoring the winning goal at Wembley, Isak privately felt he had achieved everything he wanted at the club. This has led to speculation that, from April onward, Isak was deliberately playing poorly to make it easier for him to justify a move away from the club without having to explain his reasons to Howe or the fans.
