🛑FLOODS HIT MAHENYE 16 people are trapped in Lisungwe fields island along Save River since 05/03/26. The Civil Protection Unit is yet to send help. Water is moving towards villages and crocodiles now being seen in villages such as Uketi, Mathukutheya, Chigumeta and Ndhlondhlo.

On 6 March 2026, ten @RCCA_Youth members were honoured to attend a one-day innovation training hosted by Africa University in Mutare. The eye-opening session brought together AU partners and participants from across Zimbabwe. The training emphasized innovation as a process of understanding problems, designing and testing solutions, improving them through learning, and scaling what works to create real impact. For RCCA, the training was particularly valuable as it strengthens our ability to develop creative and sustainable climate action solutions that work best in our context.

🌳 Muwango Community Strengthens Climate Resilience! 🌍🌱 Green Institute is proud to share that the Muwango Community in Chipinge District has mobilized to fulfill its pledge of establishing a community woodlot. This week, community members planted 2,000 eucalyptus (gum) seedlings, building on the 781 seedlings planted in December 2025. This initiative is part of the Miombo Transboundary Intiative, supported by @FAOZimbabwe, the Government of Italy, and the Government of Zimbabwe and @forestrycom1. It is designed to restore miombo forests, strengthen local livelihoods, and promote climate-smart solutions. The community woodlot will provide a sustainable source of firewood and construction poles, reducing pressure on nearby indigenous forests such as Chirinda Forest. It will also serve as a buffer zone, supporting conservation while enhancing beekeeping activities through improved bee forage. 🌱 Looking ahead, Muwango Community is preparing for beehive-making training and the establishment of a community orchard at the hub, further diversifying livelihoods and strengthening resilience. 👏 With strong local leadership and partnerships, Muwango Village is showing how communities can deliver practical solutions that protect forests while improving livelihoods. 🌍 In Chipinge District, Ward 19, Green Institute has been empowering vulnerable women & youth farmers. With IM Swedish Development Partner (2024–25), we reached 185 beneficiaries & built the Batanai Agriculture Hub: 2 greenhouses, a 1ha garden, 5 fishponds & a solar-powered water point serving 400+ people. 🌱💧 But in Feb 2026, Cyclone Gezani destroyed one greenhouse & wiped out the solar water system—cutting off irrigation & clean water. This disaster reversed critical gains, leaving women & youth vulnerable again. ✨ We are now appealing for support to restore the hub: rebuild the greenhouse, replace the solar system, and strengthen climate-resilient farming.
