Additional work in the area for the METRO B Line route construction later this summer will likely cause traffic impacts the majority of 2024, especially during peak commuting hours.

Starting April 10 there will be lane closures on West Lake Street in Minneapolis between Chowden Avenue and Market Street. Crews will be building a barrier between road traffic and the sidewalk and completing work around the West Lake Street Station. metrocouncil.org/Transportation…

The South Cedar Lake Trail in @StLouisPark is closed until early May to construct and install a traction power substation. The trail will reopen to recreational traffic on the weekends.

Construction update for March 15: metrocouncil.org/Transportation… Photos: Favorable weather conditions this year are allowing construction planning to progress along the Green Line Extension. Below are photos of a few areas that will have upcoming traffic impacts starting this spring.

The South Cedar Lake Trail in @StLouisPark will be closed beginning Monday into early May to construct and install a traction power substation, which provides electricity to light rail vehicles by converting AC current from the electric grid to DC current, which powers trains.

The trail will reopen to recreational traffic on weekends. Barriers will be removed and reinstalled at the beginning and ends of the work week to keep trail users out of the construction site. A future closure may be needed later this spring or summer for follow-on work.
