No había que ser un lince para saber que si se seguía facilitando el genocidio israelí desde Europa, manteniendo los negocios y las relaciones habituales e incumpliendo la obligación de prevenir, detener y castigar el genocidio, después llegaría esta fase: más guerra, más destrucción. Se optó por mantener las relaciones preferenciales con EEUU, facilitador del genocidio, y por ignorar el derecho internacional y las peticiones de la Corte Internacional de Justicia, que pide a los Estados “suspender relaciones comerciales y de inversión que contribuyan” a la ocupación israelí y la segregación. NO se cumplió el derecho internacional, NO se rompieron relaciones con Israel, NO se presionó, SÍ se mantuvo el Acuerdo de Asociación UE-Israel, vigente hasta hoy. Vamos más atrás aún: ¿qué se hizo después de que EEUU cometiera crímenes de guerra en Afganistán o Irak bombardeando mercados, asesinando a civiles, destruyendo infraestructura, arrasando, y lucrándose a costa de la guerra? ¿Qué pasó cuando la OTAN mató a civiles en sus bombardeos contra Libia o cuando Francia y EEUU facilitaron el asesinato de Gadafi? Se normalizaron invasiones, ocupaciones, matanzas de población civil, torturas como las de Abu Ghraib o Camp Bucca, secuestros en Guantánamo, asesinatos de periodistas como José Couso en Irak, caos, violencia. Por eso hoy estamos aquí. Las impunidades del pasado construyeron la gigantesca impunidad belicista de hoy.

La gente no quiere información. Quiere que la realidad coincida con lo que ya pensaba. AEMET publica una explicación CLARÍSIMA de qué es una predicción trimestral: tendencias, probabilidades, escenarios más probables… no certezas, no magia, no “el 12 de abril lloverá en tu pueblo a las 19h”. Y aun así, los comentarios se llenan de: “Vaya reculada” “Estáis comprados” “Sois unos inútiles” No es un problema de meteorología. Es un problema social. Vivimos en la era de la información… pero también en la era de no leer nada y opinar de todo. Si la previsión no confirma lo que alguien quiere oír, automáticamente hay conspiración, manipulación o incompetencia. Porque claro, es más fácil insultar que entender cómo funciona un sistema atmosférico caótico. Las predicciones estacionales se actualizan porque entra información nueva y además AEMET analiza y comprueba si está predicción está siendo cierta o no. Eso no es “reculada”. Eso se llama ciencia funcionando. Pero una parte de la gente no quiere ciencia. Quiere certezas absolutas en un mundo que no las tiene. Y cuando no se las dan, disparan contra el mensajero. Luego nos preguntamos por qué cuesta tanto comunicar cosas complejas. Prueba a explicar probabilidades a quien solo entiende titulares y necesita culpables. Ese es el verdadero problema, no el tiempo.

BREAKING!: Huge news: The Government has quietly published [link below] on its website, without any fanfare, the Joint Intelligence Committee / Defra report on 'GLOBAL BIODIVERSITY LOSS, ECOSYSTEM COLLAPSE AND NATIONAL SECURITY' that it suppressed last October. It has presumably done this at this point (in the middle of an international crisis) to try to bury the story. ...this is a huge story. Just consider the report's title, for starters... the report warns of multiple likely ecosystem >collapses< that will have dire implications for our national security, and that require serious strategic adaptation at minimum. The report also sets out how these collapses if they are allowed to occur will significantly increase migration-pressure: "as development gains begin to reverse", a phrase that should make any human shudder in anguish. There is much more... But it doesn't end there: what they have published very much appears to be >only part of a larger piece of work<: there is no detail at all in what they have published on the geo-regional analyses; the connections from those regional analyses to the national security threats consequently facing Britain are not detailed; the "Key Judgements" of the report are not properly explained. It is fairly obvious what has happened here: in response to FOIs, they are trying to slip this report out, presumably because they feared it would otherwise get out anyway; but they have done so in a form that holds back much of the most disturbing content - the content that WE as citizens need to know if we are to know how to protect ourselves, what we are potentially going to have to adapt TO. We must continue to press for the full report to be released... But in the meantime there is much here to digest and reflect on, to put it mildly. Kudos to those who commissioned the report; do READ this version of it (it's only short!), and let's take it from there... The European Commission has just made it clear that the rigid constraints they had placed on public finance were totally artificial. They have now lifted them to enable massive military production. The EC could have done the same thing to achieve rapid decarbonization and ensure good housing, healthcare, and public transit for all. They could have abolished deprivation, unemployment and economic insecurity. But they did not. This exposes an extraordinary betrayal. It reveals that the European working classes have been lied to, over and over. The European Commission has suppressed production of public services, not because it has been fiscally necessary to do so, but because it ensures the conditions for capital accumulation.
