Unfortunately, despite good numbers in support, our motion was not heard at Spring Conference. The silver lining is that means we will almost definitely take this to a vote in the next Autumn Conference, so keep an eye out for that!

We are glad to see Sizewell C can go ahead without having to waste time and taxpayers money on ill conceived legal challenges. This objection would've compromised safety and was motivated by the idea of stopping the construction entirely instead of genuine concern about the plans

While the current 14m tall sea defences cover the worst conceivable sea level rise and storms, it is an important part of nuclear safety that there should be plans to respond to changing information throughout the lifespan of a nuclear plant.

It is good to see that the High Court has dismissed opposition to Sizewell C's plans of adapting its sea defences should future projects prove to be inaccurate. bbc.com/news/articles/…

This motion also does not require the Green Party to directly support nuclear or pledge to build new nuclear power stations, just to drop its current opposition, and take an impartial science based approach in future.

Nuclear waste really isn't a problem.

@WaistcoatDave Nuclear has the potential to go very bad, but that actually makes it safe! It means it has to pass way harsher health and safety regs than other energy production methods. In terms of deaths per mW energy, nuclear is about as safe as wind and safer than hydro / fossil fuels

This is why we need a Green Party government that is willing to invest in our future and back nuclear power, in a way that is ethical and fair. Join us in pursuing both at greensfornuclear.uk !!

To achieve energy security, the UK also needs a serious nuclear waste management system with either storage or spent fuel recycling (up to 95% of nuclear waste can be reusable as fuel!). This should consider current and future nuclear energy production plans.

The Wylfa SMRs news is great! It represents huge investment in Wales and a boost to our energy independence. However if we truly want all the benefits of nuclear energy, we need it to be fully nationalised, away from corporate greed: (🧵)
