What matters is not release of some subset of the Epstein files, but rather the prosecution of those who committed heinous crimes with Epstein. When there is at least one arrest, some justice will have been done. If not, this is all performative. Nothing but a distraction.
SMX 🇺🇸@iam_smx

Elon Musk has consistently been the loudest public voice demanding the release of the Epstein files and accountability for all involved “Not a single Epstein “client” has been prosecuted. Not even one” -Elon Musk

@elonmusk 18F had ~90 employees, working on a variety of projects across the behemoth federal gov. It was precisely the small and scrappy type of organization gov needs more of

@EdKrassen Hey everybody - this is how we lose. Sure, we're bad but distract yourself by looking at how bad other ppl are. East Palestine is one of the worst things to happen on US soil in decades, how could it have been prevented and how do we get people the resources to minimize damage?

For everyone pretending to be outraged that FEMA didn't act sooner in East Palestine, Ohio, please recall 2 yrs ago when President Trump initially rejected California's FEMA request after they experienced 6 horrific wildfires. Fox News praised him for telling California to rake their leaves instead.

@mtaibbi 8) The hippie in me says open source these algorithms, for the advancement of human understanding and knowledge. But the companies that develop them deserve to hit big $ when they take off. Pharma patents last 20 years before drug recipes are released publicly. Applicable here?

Hello Internet! So, I'm late to this whole Twitter thing, can someone explain this to me what this is all about? For real, like, how does it work? Initial reactions from @mtaibbi's Twitter Files

@mtaibbi 7) Another fascinating engineering question -- How does Twitter algorithms compare to Facebook, compare to Google, TikTok, etc. Why am I seeing what I'm seeing? What variables are emphasized?

@mtaibbi 6) Section 230 of Communications Decency Act should be reformed. It's from 1996, gave online platforms complete immunity in content moderation. Designed to encourage development of tech industry that was nascent and fragile at the time, that's no longer the case

@mtaibbi 5) Apart from all that, what a dynamic scientific and engineering question - How to appropriately distribute content to a critical mass of society? Protecting freedoms, etc. No way exec teams can answer this question (sufficiently) by themselves, conflict of interest

@mtaibbi 4) The Chinese Communist Party has been observing the consequences of decisions from social media companies for years, and stacking the deck against non-Chinese users (esp. kids) with how TikTok operates. Understanding how TWTR works under the hood is important for natl security

@mtaibbi 3) "Technology is neither good nor bad; nor is it neutral" - First Law of Technology, according to a professor from the 80s / 90s, Melvin Kranzberg. Social Media has been in the control of a handful of people for years, with bias toward engagement playing too large a role

@mtaibbi 2) The impact of "filter bubbles" in algorithmic content moderation is underestimated and not-well-understood. Creates an echo chamber, increasing volume of emotional reactions, reinforces biases. This is a huge issue w FB, and looks like it might apply to TWTR decision making

1) First things first, let's remove the political bullschnazzle from the equation. Voluntarily releasing rationale behind decisions is a HUGE step forward for tech industry. Knowing how the sausage is made is way way overdue

Don’t be fooled. Big Tech isn’t shutting down accounts due to “risk”. They’re trying to control what you READ. What you THINK. What you BELIEVE. They’re after one thing: control. Because control means power. Don’t let them win.

@realDonaldTrump In DJT v Benson, case from MI last wk, evidence presented was 1) affidavit from poll worker who “was being told by other poll workers...to change date the ballot was rec'd" (no other details), and 2) sticky note said "entered receive date as 11/2/20 on 11/4/20". That all you got?

Nobody wants to report that Pennsylvania and Michigan didn’t allow our Poll Watchers and/or Vote Observers to Watch or Observe. This is responsible for hundreds of thousands of votes that should not be allowed to count. Therefore, I easily win both states. Report the News!

@djcarney21 You think so? I'm not sure how he expands from the base he has already, and if part of his base is convinced that Deej (the President, not the Dad of Alex and Molly) actually just tried to take advantage of them, I'm not sure how he is a factor in 2024

Proud to be a part of the team to launch this last night. It shows the distribution by county of issues/complaints reported by voters to a hotline staffed by legal professionals, @866OURVOTE. In process of digesting what it tells us about our election system, good or bad
VoteAmerica@VoteAmerica

We've just launched, alongside @LawyersComm and @USDResponse, a map of election protection reports to @866OURVOTE: 866ourvote.voteamerica.com (desktop/tablet only)

@johnloudon @RealDrGina - Why were you compelled to start Citizen Voters, Inc. - an org dedicated to amending state constitutions specifying that only citizens shall be an elector - when non-citizen voting has been extinct since 1926 when Arkansas became the last state to ban it?

Also, @PressSec, what is the minimum sample size of WH employees that would be needed to publish these statistics, and how was that threshold decided upon?

washingtonpost.com/video/politics… “There are privacy concerns… I’m not going to give you a detailed readout.” @PressSec What should the expectation be of public servants to disclose information relevant to how a governmental body conducts its business?
