On Dec. 5, 2022, a team at LLNL's @lasers_llnl conducted the first controlled fusion experiment in history to achieve fusion ignition. Also known as scientific energy breakeven, the experiment produced more energy from fusion than the laser energy used to drive it.

@eruptionsblog Might have to get the old soapbox out and find the town square. This internet thing is rough.

@eruptionsblog Well, I always wanted a way to avoid pesky reviewers, and since HarperCollins let me draw a prehistoric Flava Flav, I just couldn't resist.

Fascinating “Every day in our modern world, an average of more than 100 metric tons of meteoric materials is added to Earth. That’s over 70 VW Golfe worth of material every single day.” This is why I read scientific books with facts & clever banter. Thanks again @GregBrennecka

Setting a 1 hour timer for my book reading today because I’ve gotta go buy a shirt for my pride outfit tomorrow & birthday dinner with my bestie whose big day is also next week. #GeminiSeason #books & coffee time are my selfcare. Hoping to finish this amusing book on meteors

@SNMilam Obviously IMPACT should be on this list :) But more seriously, anything by Mary Roach or Bill Bryson. And to watch...something with Han Solo in it always makes me feel better. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

@FutureJurvetson @mikeolson @NatureComms @NASAGoddard You are exactly correct about the publisher & the appendix. But, to be fair, the publisher's assumption is also correct, unfortunately. Which is exactly why I wrote the book in the first place. Third graders, on the other hand, love reading about isotopes and mass spectrometers.

Made in Space: the A-T-G-C of our DNA 🌎🧬 ☄ A bombshell in Nature today — All of the base pairs of our biology have now been found in CM2 meteorites, supporting the theory that life’s precursors arrived on Earth from abiotic origins past Jupiter. How? flic.kr/p/2ngXUkF

Certainly one of the few podcasts out there that touches on terraforming Mars, book illustrations, and skinny-dipping.

@codydschultz Hah, yes, very specific for a pre-AMA... No major evolution since last year, CAIs formed super early and are just isotopically different in a lot of ways - hopefully you can come up with some good explanations!
