@cjmtuttle @CalltoActivism Yea - as a boy Norman Vincent Peale was popular with rich upper west side Protestants - his sermons had themes like “You, the accomplished and wealthy, have been chosen by God to succeed. You should feel no guilt for your success. God’s will = Winners are winners.”

Trump's family did attend Marble Collegiate Church regularly—something that's easily searchable and fact-checkable. The fact Trump had Norman Vincent Peale as his pastor growing up actually explains A LOT about his "theology" and brand of Christianity that's rarely (if ever) very "Christian" at all.

🚨ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Trump’s religious advisor says that Trump went “three times a week to Saturday and Sunday school.” Saturday and Sunday ARE TWO DAYS and there’s zero chance this is true. Are his supporters all this fucking gullible?

Concerns: 1. Paula White, the White House's chosen chief religious advisor explicitly compared Trump to Jesus, said "to say no to Trump is to say no to God," and told all Americans to tithe to Israel directly. 2. Graham's prayer just basically harkened back to the Talmud and the Yalkut Shimoni which say the Mashiach (the "true" Jewish messiah) will come when the king of Persia (Iran) is defeated. Graham didn't cite new testament... he cited the old so as not to change the narrative. 3. Rabbie Weiz said "I fully believe that Trump in the White House is part of God's greater plan to bring the Messiah." 4. Mark Levin just introduced Trump as "our first Jewish President." 5. Trump said, in his Easter speech, "On Palm Sunday, Jesus entered Jerusalem as crowds welcomed him with praise honoring him as king. They call me king now. Can you believe it?" This needs to stop. This whole scaffolding to set up Trump as either the Jewish messiah or harbinger of Armageddon thing needs to stop. If it's just an "oh we didn't mean it that way," then stop. If enough people say it to him, he may just start to believe it. Pray for him, pray for our country, pray for peace and victory, but please stop supporting this grotesque contortion of faith and Christ. This is getting out of hand.
Rev. Johnnie Moore ن@JohnnieM

Yesterday, @WhiteHouse @Franklin_Graham prayed a powerful prayer for the people of Iran: “Let us pray. Father, you tell us in the book of Esther that the Persians — the Iranians — were wanting to kill every Jew — woman, child — and to do it all in one day. But, you raised up Esther to save the Jewish people. Father … today the Iranians — the wicked regime of this government — wants to kill every Jew and destroy them with an atomic fire. But you have raised up @POTUS @realDonaldTrump. You’ve raised him up ‘for such a time as this.’ Father, we pray that you’ll give him victory. Father, we pray for our military that you’d watch over and protect them. We pray for the people of Iran who want freedom, to be set free”

A clear act to harass people of color and make the lines longer in immigrant communities. Do you really think they will deploy ICE to do that in the white suburban communities?

@HQNewsNow @JoJoFromJerz For a President who knows he needs the Republicans to hold the House and Senate in November to continue his agenda , he sure seems to be working diligently to hand the Democrats all they need to ensure that won’t happen.

@patrick10801 @jbendery That is BS… Catholic chaplains in the military have celebrated mass on ships, in tents, in the field - everywhere. Even in the civilian world Catholic mass has been celebrated in outdoor venues.

@jbendery Catholics only celebrate Mass in a consecrated, dedicated Church. (Not government chapels, protestant structures, or store-fronts where other "Christians" gather.) Attending any other "sacred" celebratory event is sacrilege. So the Pentagon was right not to invite Catholics.

Trump’s comments last night about “Obama’s Iran deal” were simply wrong. It wasn’t perfect, but it capped uranium enrichment at 3.67%. Since Trump scrapped it, Iran has enriched to 60%—much closer to weapons-grade. And that stockpile still hasn’t been eliminated.

TRUMP SAID YESTERDAY THAT (quote follows): “THE RUSSIAN CONSTITUTION IS MUCH BETTER THAN THE AMERICAN ONE. Putin told me he never has any problems with his constitution.” — THAT’S A QUOTE, DAMN IT! “Russia has much better constitution writers than we do,” he said. “I talked to Putin, and he said their constitution never gives him problems.”
