I did zero math. ChatGPT did it all for me. Further search. Over the last 40 years, Jazz have averaged .608 win percentage. Washington has had zero games over .600 Playing in Utah gets a bad rap cuz we don’t have a “night life”. The org itself is definitely on the higher end in the league. Washington is arguably the worst org in the league.

Two things: 1. While the Wizards will certainly take calls for the No. 1 pick, that doesn’t mean they’ll actually trade it or even want to trade it. 2. Just because AJ Dybantsa played high school and college ball in Utah doesn’t mean he’ll force his way to the Jazz.

The second point is what so many people are fighting over about Dybantsa. He lived in Massachusetts all his life and only moved to Utah cause of a couple million (dollars) reasons.

@PointGuardLife8 You just did a lot of math to say both teams haven’t been good. If Washington is so bad, why did Alex Sarr essentially force his way there? Or a better question: Why did Ace Bailey try to force his way out of the Jazz drafting him last year so the Wizards could pick him?

The Wizards have been a sub-500 team for 18 of the last 25 seasons, and never broke .600. Missed playoffs in 17 of those seasons. Jazz have been sub-500 in 9 of those same seasons and been over .600 in 9 of those seasons. Don’t pretend to compare these two franchises. My point was exactly that. You may be right that he doesnt force himself to Utah. But he may very well try to force himself away from Washington. Just so happens that they both end in the same result.

@donjazz45man Well said. When DP is on his game, I can see him as the top prospect. Issue is the inconsistency in which he reaches that level. And like you said, AJ fits that face if the franchise player for the Wizards

@GregFinberg You think so? Man… I love AJ and I do think he’s an amazing prospect. I think darryn is the BEST prospect in terms of talent and ceiling but AJ is the perfect guy to really be the face of a franchise

@GregFinberg I know. I’m not arguing with you my guy. I’m saying this is a story blown out of proportion. AJ will go where drafted and play hard no matter what. Not a worry in the slightest for Wiz fans. The bigger question is if the wizards are actually taking him

Full clip. They say Ace Bailey situation ruffled feathers last year. Also noted wizards signed Sharife cooper months after the draft (dad was Ace Bailey’s agent during the draft). Windhorst ends with saying trading 1 is unlikely, cites the history of it rarely being traded

Great podcast as usual Greg. I agree with you that AJ is the best fit & best pick. Trading back won’t happen after waiting so long without have a number 1. Plus the owner would go mad because he needs to recover after the past 3 yrs of tanking ($). Keep up the great work my friend. 😊👍

#Wizards fans who would you want them to take #1? Or.. should they trade back? AD’s injury history terrifies me + rumors of him not wanting to be there… so, Boozer/Wilson likely in play. I think that’s why they want to trade back.. likely to 3 or 4 while getting capital.

The Wizards have done interviews with Darryn Peterson, AJ Dybantsa, Cam Boozer and Caleb Wilson (today) Michael Winger said "I think there are 3 or 4 players in play" about the first pick A LOT of players could go first to DC 👀

@AmatorLudis It’s hard to say. The Wiz have been aggressive in trading up / trading back for more future picks in previous draft. So my guess is they don’t use both but hard to say at the moment
