@KenKenwagner11 You're free to make your own mind up yourself.

Ken,
Threads is a very poor alternative to Twitter - it's like someone @ Facebook decided to make a Twitter alternative and then stopped half-way. And, it's also essentially Facebook.
Mastodon is too complex for its own good despite having made great strides since creating the default mastodon.social server. It is the only choice if you want a non-American (ie. EU) repository, just in case - many may want that for the next 4 years at least. So a must if you want a foot on both side of the ocean, just in case.
Bluesky, started by the guy who started Twitter, works exactly like Twitter, hence why so many have chosen it ahead of all the other one, because everything is the same and you get moderation, true blocking, etc... It is currently in safe hands but, then again, Twitter was in safe hands before it got sold, so time will tell .....
That's my view.

@GregLarssen I always appreciate and respect your analysis and perspective, Greg. Thank you, sincerely! I've had to fall back to a relatively small position in $BNGO... Hoping for the best for them, for you and for all of us.

$BNGO - Bionano
I have been asked about Bionano's future in 2025 forward.
The answer is : I DON'T KNOW.
What I do know, however, is that the election of a Republican government hell bent on tariffs has made Bionano's situation even more complicated.
Three days post election and we are already seeing the consequences : in a surreal three days post November 5th we have seen major corporations announcing close to 15,000 layoffs in the U.S. alone. The common denominator is this : in just 3 days prices in the U.S have already gone up on a number of raw materials as price gougers pre-anticipate tariffs in January - this was ALWAYS going to happen because it's a good period to make lots of money before orders dry out. Stellantis (400 layoffs in Detroit), Nissan (9000 layoffs worldwide, most of them in the U.S.), and others, announced their cuts yesterday - that's just the beginning. Some unions are seething, blaming the auto-makers management, but, quite frankly, if the unions bosses believed the disinformation and did not understand that A meant B, they've only got themselves to blame.
The reason for all this is that there is very little nowadays that is 100% made in USA. So almost everything depends on some parts made outside the country. That's the case of both our Saphyr and Stratys. And that's just the beginning - the price of oil has gone up in the three days post election so the prices at the gas pumps will go up in the next week or so from November 4th. It won't stop there : excessive tariffs bring tariff wars, global tariff wars - then it's anyone's guess.
At this point we circle back to Bionano :
--------------------------------------------------------
#1) This will have a detrimental incidence on the price of Saphyr/Stratys instruments, unless of course, Bionano decides to lower their margins, neither of which is a good outcome.
#2) The second half of 2024 has stood out as a period of massive purchasing retrenchment with only Illumina coming out of it unscathed in its Q3 results. Both 10x Genomics and PacBio have been raising funds this week (I wonder why ....). With tariffs resulting in all the consequences I have mentioned above, and more (15K workers laid off can tell you about additional consequences for them), the squeeze on purchasing will get even bigger giving us a grimmer outlook for 2025 than it was on November 4th !
Tip to Bionano : special offers to buyers for Q4 ????
-----------------------------------------
So, that's it - that's my take : I JUST DO NOT KNOW.

Hi James,
First and foremost I am a scientist before I became a businessman. In science facts matter above all else. We in America have collectively lost all ability to discern facts from the ridiculous or outright madness. There are many reasons for this - I won't go into details, but you guys in the UK went through that too when a majority believed nonsense and voted for Brexit. All platforms have a certain degree of misinformation but that's different to a platform first removing any moderation and then actively engaging in massive misinformation - what's the difference between that and Russia ?
That's the issue and, by the way, my folks and one of my siblings still live back in Texas. On the Gulf we get hurricanes there too - imagine having to deal with all the misinformation about FEMA's rescue operations !
Enough said - I leave you to fill the blanks !

A crucial 3 months for Bionano : will it survive, if Yes then will it prosper in 2025, will it be acquired ?
We shall see.
In the meantime I have set up a presence on BlueSky and Mastodon (using default Social platform) and should be up and running by tomorrow.
I will post on here, BlueSky and Mastodon for a few weeks, but will eventually discontinue posting here.
Take care of your money whether you follow me or not - do your DD and as much as I hope BNGO survives as an independent entity into 2025, this is definitely not the time to be sentimental about your investments - stay focused on the data.

The Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, IL has been awarded a $3.7m grant through the National Cancer Institute Cancer Moonshot Scholars program to advance precision diagnosis of brain tumors in children using .... OPTICAL GENOME MAPPING !
This is the hospital's second award this year for an OGM program.
This 5-year study will be the first to apply a molecular testing technology called optical genome mapping (OGM) to achieve faster and more comprehensive diagnosis of brain tumors, so treatment can be tailored to the specific genetic changes that drive tumor growth.

I won't be posting Bionano news this week until Wednesday 6-Nov-2024 (unless Q3 2024 results are released).
Our existential elections tomorrow have occupied my time ahead of anything else.
I'll be back on Wednesday in what I hope will be a beautiful Blue morning consigning a horrific 4-letter part of our modern history, MAGA, to oblivion.
See you Wednesday.

@marceelias Thanks Marc for your firm's herculean work all over the country to repel this absolutely insane level of obstruction in their attempts to steal this election and/or disenfranchise voters.
This is surreal and the worst part is that it won't stop for days or weeks.
THANK YOU !!!

@MikeyG_DDS Hi Michael,
Was wondering about you yesterday when this news dropped in.
I sold RTLF a long time ago now but still keep tabs on them.
Wishing you well and I'll keep an eye on this old favourite of mine !

"Investigation of a Pathogenic Inversion in UNC13D and Comprehensive Analysis of Chromosomal Inversions Across Diverse Datasets"
Ali Aydinlar University, Istanbul, Turkey, the Pacific Northwest Research Institute, Seattle, WA, the Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX, and the Texas Children's Hospital, Houston, TX, publish the above paper.
This study aims to fill the gap in our understanding of the molecular characteristics of inversions with low frequency in the population and aims to highlight the importance of identifying them in rare disease studies.
The scientists advocate a multi-omics strategy with Optical Genome Mapping one of the critical technologies that should be used.
