I’ve been thoroughly impressed w Joe Mazzulla the last few years but his really bad coaching vs 76ers will haunt him for some time.
I put this donuts solely on Mazzulla back for not setting them up for success.

Offensive efficiency for this year's Celtics was tied to rebounding, particularly on the offensive end.
The "Gap Year Celtics" finishing with the 5th best offense in NBA history (1.2 points/possession) was insane.
But failed to hit 1.12 in all four losses (see Rebounding below)

@John_Zannis These collapses are now endemic. 21/22 Finals, 22/23 ECF, Knicks series last year, maybe even 17/18 ECF if you want to go back that far. The C's got ONE title in 9 years with Tatum and Brown. They rebuilt the "Green" brand but this has been a decade of missed opportunities.

Majority of fans - even some of us doubters - thought Celtics were clearly beat team in East. Entire NBA media machine picked them to go to finals. Don’t tell me it was a successful year. It’s a massive failure given raised expectations after how they playedand Tatum return.

@John_Zannis What are we angry about? It was a successful season and building block in a year that was supposed to be a total loss. Just like the shot variance, this team was first round loss or Finals team. Had to know that as a fan.

@John_Zannis Here are reg season mins vs. this series. Not as big a difference as I thought, but F it - Hugo should be out there antagonizing Maxey. A tireless 19 year-old high impact defender is an asset in this series IMO.

I still think Celtics can & will figure out way to win game 7. However…if they get bounced in rd 1 with a fully healthy roster and Tatum back close to his normal self, it signifies all the regular season success (Joe, Jaylen, young player development) was fraudulent. All of it.

@Dan55002255 @John_Zannis I just don’t see that 2nd unit as “emptying bench” to fill garbage time. 8-9 guys is how they have to play - especially if they make Finals v SAS/OKC. Depth is one of C’s biggest advantages.

Let’s see what happens in Game 7 and how the rest of the playoffs unfold for the Celtics but I know this about Joe Mazzulla. Whatever he did this year to get Boston to 56 wins and the two seed should mean nothing. Between tanking and load mgmt. the NBA regular season is a joke.

@TheGardenReport @CelticsCLNS @RealBobManning This is a team that has to break convention IMO and go 8-10 not just 6-7 guys typical of the postseason. That’s their only answer to athleticism: wear the best athletes out with depth. If they can’t change no shot against SAS or OKC.
