@BGrueskin @lindayaX It may be pertinent to point out that when a company enters Chapter 11 it typically manages to pay hefty compensation to induce current management to stay on (although they have to, and do, take care not to call them retention bonuses).

@MohiniTangri @Harvard_Law That ”level of harassment” is necessary and appropriate until every group retracts support for the morally abhorrent letter or losses its dissenting members. The remaining signatories of that public letter have, by the act of signing, chosen to make their views public.

@BillAckman I think people are really sick and tired of wokeism. In schools, the workplace, the govt, and the media. It’s time to bring common sense and decency back.

Some advice for students: If an organization of which you are a member puts out a public statement you disagree with, you have a few choices. You can: Stay silent and have the entire world conclude that you stand by the statement. Convince the other members of the group to withdraw or otherwise modify the statement so that it can reflect the views of all members. Or you can resign in protest. Claiming that you had no involvement or knowledge of the statement, but remaining a member of the organization without it withdrawing the statement is perhaps the worst of the alternatives, as it appears to simply be an attempt to avoid accountability while continuing to be a member of the organization. If you were managing a business, would you hire someone who blamed the despicable violent acts of a terrorist group on the victims? I don’t think so. Would you hire someone who was a member of a school club who issued a statement blaming lynchings by the KKK on their victims? I don’t think so. Would you want them to be an associate at your law firm? Of course not. It is not harassment to seek to understand the character of the candidates that you are considering for employment. In fact, as CEO, it is your obligation to do so on behalf of all of the other employees in your company, the clients and customers it serves, and all of your other stakeholders. I have heard that the above inquiry has made some members of the groups which put out the statement feel ‘unsafe,’ a word that is sadly overused in universities today. Ask yourself how unsafe it would feel in Israel beginning Saturday early morning and how unsafe it feels now? Ask yourself how unsafe your Jewish classmates feel when 32 clubs published a statement assigning sole responsibility for the heinous, deathly acts of terrorists to Israel and the Jews? Experience is making mistakes and learning from them. If you have made a mistake, acknowledge it, and immediately correct your mistaken actions. Public statements made by organizations of which you are a member can have a material negative impact on your reputation. I have learned from experience that the best time to fix a mistake is now.

@BillAckman And before you say it, yes I’m sure many students had no idea that the leaders of their organizations improperly agreed to sign on to that reprehensible statement. There’s a solution to that: withdraw the signatures. That so few organizations have done so is dismaying.

@BGrueskin @BillAckman Returning to this hellscape platform momentarily to ask: (1) since when did freedom of speech mean freedom to escape the consequences of saying horrific things?; and (2) since when did signing a public statement mean not having to make your name public?

@jswatz I think I speak on behalf of all rational Yale Law graduates when I say that Josh Harley is a disgrace to an otherwise magnificent institution. Same goes for JD Vance, Clarence Thomas, Brett Kavanaugh, and a truly regrettable number of other truly repugnant human beings.

Why do news organizations care about what the former president's son says?

@BGrueskin @TheStalwart Bear in mind it is at least as possible that Trump will collapse (physically or otherwise) — a widely overlooked explanation for many of his republican “opponents” candidacies. (Harkens back to why LBJ agreed to be JFK’s running mate, a seeming longshot that paid off for him.)

Mainstream Democrats who say they want an alternative to Biden. Tbh I don’t really get it. The man has a long career of steamrolling opponents and passing substantive legislation. What else are people looking for in a candidate?

@KyWhitney @DavidAFrench Note David did not put any blame on lawyers, just said that Trump should have relied on good lawyers. Some of his lawyers were good; most of those have left. Some were undoubtedly bad (see Boris E), have enabled him, and do deserve blame.

If he'd relied on good lawyers, there never would have been any charges at all. He'd have returned all the documents when asked.
