FUN FACT: The 16th century ones for these masks were actually “Ivory” and were hip pendants. It’s more of Igbesamwan and less of Igun guild.

•Elephant ivory → the main body of the mask
•Iron → used for the pupils/inlay in the eyes
•Brass (or bronze) → sometimes used for small inlays or detailing (varies by mask).
Hence, it’s more of Igbesamwan than Igun
