It is perfectly normal for a huge island like Kastellorizo (Meis) which has 492 people to have a larger EEZ than a mainland coast that is barely visible on the map, like Türkiye which has 90 million people.

@seld_on Its really just a form of conscription. We see it taking place in Ukraine and Russia today. The big difference is these guys didn't form 5% of the Ottoman army and generally were given the best paid roles.

In Ottoman-occupied Europe, there was a system called "blood tax" or "child levy". Every year the occupiers stole a number of young Christian boys from the Balkan villages. They were forcefully converted to Islam, some trained as cruel soldiers to kill their own. Others were castrated and used as guardians or pleasure slaves. The Blood tax of today is more chaotic. But it still exists. The presence of non-European migrants leads to a certain number of European boys and girls who are enslaved, raped, and killed every year. The Balkan men fought with all their united force to drive the Ottomans out - even if their own children were not chosen by the blood tax. They could not live with the shame. What is wrong with Western European men of today?

Its not going to make things easier for them. Better to keep a low profile and be a productive citizen. Forget the religious debates.

@DanaNawzarAli secularism is good, it means you are free to be whatever religion you want to be. It also means you can choose not to be religious. Without secularism i suspect the many sects would be in constant conflict with each other.

Kurds have lowest birth rates in Iraq but highest birth rates in Turkey. Basically Arabs have highest and Turks have lowest birth rates. In other words: The less modernization the more children. Turks and Kurds need to rethink the curse of ‘secularization’ before it’s too late.

This may be a simple theft incident. But if the match had been played in England and those involved were especially African, Black, or Muslim supporters, British racists led by Tommy Robinson would have caused an outrage.
One of the reasons why the video became such a major topic is the openly visible white supremacist racism in England.

Turkish people in the Balkans were not “visiting”. They were (and are) a part of the Balkan culture in all its aspects (music, architecture, cuisine, dressing …)
And although chronology does not matter here, Turkic peoples came to the Balkans before Slavs.
