@Grifalinas It's really hard for them to find the constant and consistent feedback they've receive from multiple sources for weeks, months, years when there's so many "shippers" they could mock instead, or dndbros they could apologize to

@thelastbigkat It does seem a bit weird, but I've only ever seen nb people use it, and there is at least a small precedent of referring to people as "a she" and "a he", albeit in extremely specific contexts. 🤔🤔

Kinda feel like calling nbis "theys" is roughly equivalent to calling girls "dresses" and boys "short hairs"

@Grifalinas You can no longer have favorite ships that do not follow the Accept Canon because you do not have a weird parasocial relationship with some pseudocelebrities.

One thing that gets me about the "you can critique something and still like it" is that yes that's true, but you can also critique something and hate it. You don't have to prove love of something to show your critique is in good faith or whatever.

@thelastbigkat It's also not fair to expect critique to come from a place of affection, because that just silences people who hate the work and want to talk about why. Think of the wf discourse- remember the 'I love J*s/L*ura' disclaimers? Well what if you didn't? Is your word now invalid?

@Grifalinas Oh 100%! Flaws in my favorite characters are fun to explore, or point out how they have harmful tropes attached, and it is also fun to absolutely rip apart awful writing and white-conservative-pandering exec-interference of various shows/games/etc they're in.

@thelastbigkat I mean ticky boxes metaphorically but I am a fan of ticky boxes in things so literally also works. (Idk what literal ticky boxes would look like in programming language because that is another world than mine.)

@Grifalinas Ohh yeah! I don't think there is documentation for checkboxes in Ren'py (idk other engines like Unity), but I looked up some users' solutions for checkboxes, so that might be possible. 👀

I've got the VOD for @/PikaChulita 's @/ArcadeSpiritsVN stream on. The concept of having an in-game app with an avatar that is meant to track your personality and relationship score, therefore providing in-universe justification for VN stats is FANTASTIC ahaha.

@thelastbigkat -to hang out with them without worrying about the game thinking I was trying to romance them. A game with the option to go "I want to romantically pursue men while befriending women" would be amazing.

@thelastbigkat I really loved that aspect of the game when I played, though I hope in future games like that also let you specify if you're only interested in pursuing one gender of character romantically. I fell in love with all of the female characters and would have jumped at the chance-
