From my dear friend, U.K. meteorologist @Lauratobin1: the U.K. on Monday broke its all-time highest May temp on record when Kew Gardens reached a high of 34.8°C (94.6°F), shattering the old record of 32.8°C (91.0°F). This would be extraordinary SUMMER heat, but it’s only May.

I attended the very moving Memorial Day service at the historic Norwood Township Cemetery this morning. This is the essence of America: remembering those who gave their lives on behalf of our country.

Many of you have the day off…perhaps playing some golf, doing yard work or something with the kids, or grilling. But PLEASE pause for at least a moment to think about and honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country. (And don’t say “Happy” Memorial Day) 🫡

It is once again a great privilege to be invited to participate, and special honor this year to chair the opening session. I very much look forward to this important conference!

(8:15pm Sat) Hey Everybody…just a quick post to let you know that some thunderstorms are possible Sunday afternoon. Nothing severe…but be aware of the lightning threat if you have outdoor plans. Fortunately, Memorial Day still looks picture perfect.

(8:25am Sat) Low pressure to our south brought in the steady rain, with rain persisting longest over the northern half of the area today. We get a break tonight into Sunday morning before showers develop Sunday afternoon. Memorial Day looks dry and warm, thankfully.

6:45am Thursday: Get ready for a rainy weekend (hopefully, maybe, we can salvage part of Sunday afternoon). Although some details need to be worked out I’m seeing a general trend in the models pointing toward heaviest rain amounts east and less west.
