Let me clarify something. Local libraries aren't free. Home owners must pay a local library tax. My bill is $495/year.

@PMourdoukoutas @gwenckatz Are you telling us you don't read $500 worth of books a year? That would explain a lot. Anyway, most people don't pay anywhere near that in library taxes and get plenty of value for what they do pay. And libraries offer a lot more than books.

@PMourdoukoutas ...and one other thing. During the Great Recession, when a lot of library systems closed down...do you have any idea how much that hurt the economy? I can't imagine that you've really thought this through...

Over the past few days I took a break from news and podcasts and listened to FLETCH as read by the peerless @GroverGardner. It's a tough edition to find (try your library), but it was a soothing balm for my frazzled mind. Think I'm going to listen to the entire series again.

@AWMIII It's still on Audible! It's hard to tell from the labelling but it's there. I wish they wouldn't sell it in three parts, though. :-(
