@greenkeeperdave The insistence of most to try to grow the ‘finer grasses’ is baffling to me. In a world where all sports played on turf are under scrutiny, why not think outside the box and grow a more drought tolerant species?
Many other sports use much more than golf per hectare anyway
Just had a dog walker tell me off for using too much water , I scoffed but actually does he have a point ... Should we as an industry do more to conserve water and use less 🤷 maybe discussions for a later date .. and compared toa lot of industries donwe actually use that much
How exciting….first chukkas of the season about to get underway.
Moisture in a reasonable place despite the lack of rainfall.
Interested to see how our Ground 9 plays after this very dry period
@guardspoloclub
@NFaubel Same ☹️
Got a 3 day ProDream USA event to deal with at the moment too! 18 year olds with electric trolleys and tour bags twice their size trogging round just about anywhere they like. Not sure how I’m going to recover everything 🤷♂️
Legs are definitely feeling it after this mornings walk. 6 miles walking is harder than 30+ on the bike for me, but having this view was well worth the effort!
Put simply, the best water management tool on the sports amenity market bar, none. Back up by data from across the world......has any other product been tested like this? #Turfcare3PA@TurfCare_IRL_UK@rhizosolutions
Bunkers are one of the most time consuming aspects of golf course maintenance, is it worth it? Most golfers hate being in them or hate what state they find them in, would golf be better without bunkers?
Let us know below 👇💭👇

A major benefit of the woodland management is the ability to appreciate the healthy specimen trees that are around the course and now frame the playing corridors.
Sometimes you have to remind yourself where you came from to achieve the results we see now! Still loads more improvements to make but we are getting there… @BognorGolfClub#HardWorkPaysOff
@IanJosephHarri5@MartinTwist2 And there I am thinking I was heroic for being able to get a Ransomes 171 around the course without throwing it in a bunker!
@hammanorgc@MartinTwist2 Using a brush was hard enough can't imagine how difficult cutting was...
Up the middle, down the outside staying on the green 🤷🏻♂️
@MartinTwist2 Certainly is, used one when I first started Greenkeeping with a brush fitted for brushing in top dressing...
A beast 💪 slip the clutch and start running 😂
@IanJosephHarri5@ChorleyGolfClub@LeighGCGreens@youngun136@CoptHeathGC It’s taken me almost an entire career to learn not to worry about anything out of my control and after 41 years, I don’t 🤷♂️
Can totally understand why many can’t though. It’s so hard to let the worries go but I like to think of it this way….members will bitch
& moan regardless
@ChorleyGolfClub@LeighGCGreens@youngun136@CoptHeathGC Well said.... When your conscientious about your job and start worrying about closures and what conversations golfers may or may not be having it isn't easy.... You can only do what you can, the rest is out of your hands.

This morning @CoptHeathGC -1 and frozen in all surfaces after another 5mm of rain when it said it would be dry🤔. The disruption across the course is immense and as the sun comes up it looks so peaceful but the course remains closed☹️⛳️. Go again tomorrow🤞🏼
@AlastairCummins The same way they don’t see a pitchmark, ropes, the area between bunkers and greens or the mud flinging off their shoes as they batter them together sitting on the boot lip of their car! 🙄
@IanJosephHarri5 Don’t hold your breath for anything tangible Ian.
I know there’ll be people at BIGGA doing their absolute best but there’s been so many years of inaction that I’ve now lost the faith. Didn’t rejoin this year and don’t think I ever will again . Not enough done for the average gk
@IanJosephHarri5@BIGGALtd Ian, I think that's a sensible point. We've just been working on our workforce & facilities survey (bigga.org.uk/news-listing/w…). But now that's been launched, I'm going to turn my attention to this topic.
Gotta love ryegrass….crappy old push up tees, no drainage and no vertidrain in our armoury. 5 years now without ever coming off tees or using mats or temps etc. It just works!
@Topgrassuk69 Plenty seem to make a good living from telling everybody how great they are, drifting from one plum job to the next and never staying long enough to be found out. I’m so done with it all….just do the job you’re paid for!
The lack of ‘likes’ for your tweet is rather telling 🤷♂️
When I was a course manager, if I’d spent as much time off work as some of these course managers these day do, I wouldn’t have lasted 40 years. Do they actually know where their course is ?
Greenkeeping tip of the day....
Always wandering around with holes in your pockets caused by conventional pitch forks, retractable pitch mark repairers game changer....
Golfers that don't know, this is a tool for repairing pitch marks 😉
