My MSc student, Pablo Duarte, and I met this morning with a farmer in Selma, AL to discuss the plans for one on-farm trial evaluating tools for Variable Rate Nitrogen application. The success of those projects lies on finding common interests farmers-scientist and commitment!

@AmericotMan PGR is relatively cheap but I still see 15-20% savings. However, the idea is to let small plants to grow (if there are not other issues going on) and go higher rates in parts of the field where the grow is more aggressive. Trying to bring the plants in a uniform growth

@GuiMorata How much yield increase do you typically see? I know you possibly can save money VR PGRs, but does it increase your final yield?

Witness the impact of variable rate PGR on our cotton fields! On the right, uneven zones were evident prior to application. But on the left, post-PGR variable use, the transformation is evident with enhanced plant response and remarkable a better uniformity across zones.

@AmericotMan @camp_hand16 That’s is good point and I would love to see the results. In my opinion PGR is crucial to fruit retention, balance between reproductive and vegetative stages, crop earliness, improvements in yield, able to harvest too.

@GuiMorata In Georgia where our UGA Extension has done PGR test and where no PGR was applied was the highest yielder is the reason why I ask. @camp_hand16
