The Centre has promised to step up its efforts to combat the illegal trade of goods, known as smuggling. This commitment aims to protect local companies from unfair competition and ensure the government gets its rightful tax revenue. Our CEO, Mr Simon Madjie, recently gave this assurance when he met with Mr Frederic Feraille, the new head of Guinness Ghana. Mr. Feraille and his team visited the GIPC office to discuss their business plans and share their concerns, particularly the rise in parallel imports, which are products brought into the country without paying the necessary taxes. During the meeting, Mr Madjie praised Guinness Ghana for its long history and resilience in the country. Mr Madjie also spoke about ongoing reforms designed to make it easier for businesses to invest and grow in Ghana. For example, he mentioned that the process for approving Technology Transfer Agreements has been significantly shortened from years to just a few weeks. Mr Feraille expressed his thanks for the GIPC’s support and outlined his company’s plans, including expanding production, improving their glass bottle return system, and working more closely with the government. He also highlighted Guinness Ghana’s partnership with the Castel Group; a move he believes will strengthen the company’s position in West Africa. #gipc #guinnessghana #trade #business #westafrica
