@openpewproject @YoungMOOBY The article was written with a nontechnical audience in mind. I figure for people who don't know how to configure their network, it's best to just recommend the SD card route.
If you do have the technical chops to set up your network properly, then I think that is safe too!
English

@YoungMOOBY @GuncadDigest Cool just gave it a read. Seems they have taken the SD card maxi stance. I really hate using the sd card and a big part of the reason i got the printer was for the handy wireless printing and monitoring features.

Bambu lab printers are amazing but if you’re printing guns DON’T USE CLOUD PRINT. Instead do this which is infinitely more private while still retaining nearly all the conveniences of cloud print.
1. Enable LAN-only mode (bambu lab wiki has a page explaining how)
2. Many home routers have an admin UI that lets you cut off internet access to specific devices. So cut the printers internet access here. Note: this doesn’t kick it off the LAN network, just adds some guarantee that the printer isn’t phoning home to papa Xi
If you never initiate/check in on prints when out of the house stop here. Otherwise, dive into some technical weeds with me:
3. Install tailscale on a device on your home network (I use a raspberry pi but an old laptop works fine)
4. Configure tailscale to start up with the —advertise-routes= setting
Your home network subnet probably looks like 192.168.1.0/24. But double check this. This allows the device to act as a relay for the printer, but DOES NOT allow the printer to initiate external connections via the relay.
5. Install tailscale on your laptop with orca/bambu slicer on it.
Now you can access the printer from anywhere as long as you have that laptop with you.
The only thing this method looses to cloud print is the ability to use the bambu handy phone app but I rarely used it anyways, usually ended up pulling out my laptop.

Flashforge's recent threats has us asking: how do we stop our printers from tattling on us to the feds?
In this video I review three techniques you can use to protect your privacy when using Bambu printers.
