KARMA FINALLY EXPLAINED
The millions of atmas that exist on this planet were all created way before their current physical birth.
Atma is the dividing of the universe into two parts, "I" and "not I". It's very much an illusion. But it's a persistent one.
Why is it an illusion? Because it comes about only by naming of things as "I" and "not I".
Is your heart a part of "I"? Yes
Is the water in this bottle a part of "I"? No
Is the same water when you drink it a part of "I"? Yes
Is your religion a part of "I"? Some say yes some say no
Is your country a part of "I"? Some say yes some say no
As you can see "I" and "not I" seems completely random. Or is it?
My guru Mahavatar Babaji, explained that something so persistent cannot be random. He defined karma like this.
"Karma is what determines what is 'I' and what is 'not I'. We defend what is 'I' no matter how pathetic others may find it and we are apathetic towards 'not I" even when our conscience tells us we should care."
This statement of my guru explained all strange human behaviour that I was struggling to understand. Read it carefully and you will have your "ah-ha" moment too.
Karma is of four types
1. Latent - Sanchit
We don't even know what we will identify with in the future and this remains latent and unknowable to most people except Gurus
2. Active - Prarabdha
This karma releases for 28 days. From today to 28 days hence, what you will identify with is hard to change except by an Avadhuta, which means one that has washed off karma and consciously chooses his or her identity
3. Created by action - Kriyaman
Identity created by our current actions. For example drinking alcohol makes you drunk.
4. Inherited - Agama
Karma that is inherited by our environment and location (desha) and era of time (kala) and ancestors (purvaja)
There are two further classifications that apply to all karmas
1. Incompatible - Viruddha
Karma that opposes your intentions (sankalpa) and leads to suffering. Like a craving for cake when you want to lose weight. Because eating cake is a part of of your identity. Or fighting with your spouse because finding them immoral is part of your identity.
2. Wholesome - Satmya
Karma that supports your intentions
Like discipline and patience. Because these are part of your identity that will support your intentions.
Shiva Puran says that chanting the mantra "Shiva shiva" continuously is called shivnama japa. Shivanama japa done with bhakti burns away your viruddha karma and eventually helps you break the illusion. If the japa is done on a 5 faced rudraksh mala 1000 times at dawn dusk and noon. It is 1 crore times more potent.
Get yourself an original undamaged rudraksh Mala and chant "Shiva shiva" 1080 times (10 malas) at dawn dusk and at noon. In 28 days you will start seeing results with a functional and wholesome identity. Keep at it and all the viruddha karma in your latent, created and inherited karma will also burn away.
