@admcollingwood Or they could go the other way and just allow the crowds to be loud, so the players expect noise and a pin dropping doesn’t become a distraction. Like darts.

The #snooker authorities have to do something about mobile phones going off during play. It is out of control. I strongly suspect that that is what caused Shaun Murphy to miss the green in the second frame, and it is only a matter of time before it costs a player a match. It won't take many people being kicked out on the first offence to put an end to it, and while it might feel harsh to do so, audiences have shown that they are unable to address this issue themselves. Time for zero-tolerance, I am afraid. @BBCSport @WeAreWST

McDavid loves Edm and Oilers but starts 12th season in fall and turns 30 next January. Clock is ticking on whether he signs long-term or not. Wonder how much he admires Ducks young talent?

Make absolutely no mistake: this Ducks series win represents a changing of the guard in the Pacific Division. McDavid should be absolutely furious about the team they’ve put around him. Get your popcorn ready, what comes next in Edmonton could be very interesting.

@McBilly_Son @ThomasDrance Panthers played 15 series in five seasons (more than Oilers in their last five seasons) and went to the cup final in the last three, the difference being they won two cups in the last two years (beating the Oilers who lost both cups to the Panthers, who won two) unlike the Oilers

@ThomasDrance Sit this one the fuck out Drance. Focus on the absolute tire fire that’s occurring in your backyard. Find me the team that went 3rd round, 2nd round, cup final, cup final and then did anything in year 5? Doesn’t happen in the cap era. He had a good enough team to win a cup.

Insanely embarrassing situation with the Whitecaps all around 1. The richest folk in BC don’t seem to have the balls and/or don’t believe BC is worth investing in 2. The government has walked us to where the above is even possible

I was recently on a flight and I had pre-booked seat 16C, as I prefer to sit on an aisle. When I showed up someone was sitting in 16A, and another person was sitting in 16B. I subtly nodded to them before sitting in my seat. I had no further interaction with them.

@EdmOilerlytics No I am agreeing with you. They should make incorrect calls to be consistent with the incorrect calls of the past. It is better to have incorrect consistency than correct inconsistency. We should also discipline the refs for getting the call right on the ice.

This was deemed a no goal, even though you can see the puck in the webbing, and logically it’s in. They couldn’t 100% say.

@KevinMcCurdy I agree that the paramount objective should be to make the wrong call so as to maintain consistency with historical officiating mistakes.

I haven't commented on this until now. "Logic" all of a sudden enters the equation as a valid means for calling goals "good", despite overwhelming history to the contrary. Some simple facts from this goal: - No official was in position to make this call on the ice, it should have been ruled no goal on the ice. That's just the facts. No ref was below the hash marks or anywhere close enough to conclusively call it in. No signal was made to this effect. Positioning failure should not result in one team being effectively penalized for that. - When such cases are ruled no goal on the ice, you need overwhelming conclusive evidence the puck completely crossed the line. Last I checked AI removals of objects and drawing circles around the puck aren't part of the situation rooms process. - If the league has a additional view that was used in this decision, that should be publicized. - It is my opinion that this puck completely crossed the line, but based on how these calls have historically gone, the process that has been used until now was tossed in the trashcan. So while the calls result is ultimately what we want from the on-ice product, the process that has been used up until now was completely thrown out the window. The league has a bit of soul-searching to do here and I believe this is a reasonable point to be perturbed with from the Oilers perspective. You can get the call right, and the process wrong, which means they need to change the process. Changing it on game 86 of the season is not the time.

For once it’s nice that logic prevailed. We all know this puck is fully across.

One simple psychological test you can try is what I call the “napkin effect.” Next time you host a gathering, whether at home or at work, pay attention to this. First, place a stack of ordinary napkins out for your guests. Nothing special, just the usual kind. Observe what happens. People will grab them freely, often taking several at once. There is no hesitation, no real care. They use them quickly, throw them away, and go back for more without thinking. Now try something slightly different another time. Put out napkins that are not necessarily more expensive, just visually different — maybe brighter, more elegant, or simply less common. Watch closely again. This time, behavior shifts. People tend to take one at a time. They use them more carefully. They even try to make them last longer. Nothing fundamentally changed about the napkins themselves — only the perception did. When something looks distinct or slightly elevated from the ordinary, people instinctively treat it with more value. It is the same dynamic you see in everyday life: presentation influences respect. Stand out — in the right way — and people will naturally treat you differently.

Iran has blockaded the Strait of Hormuz. So Trump's response is to blockade the Strait of Hormuz too. Like two overweight men trying to pass in a corridor, neither willing to turn sideways. Let us be very clear about what the United States Navy will now be doing. It will be stopping ships, and then, inevitably, a Chinese tanker comes along. It wants to move oil. The USS Something pulls alongside and says, actually, no, you don't. And suddenly the man has started an argument with the one country on Earth that makes Iran look like a minor inconvenience – China. Russia, watching from the sidelines. You cannot Truth Social your way around 39 kilometres of coastline bristling with missiles, mines and men with absolutely nothing left to lose. What you can do, apparently, is turn a regional war into a confrontation with both nuclear powers simultaneously, in a strait you don't control, over shipping that isn't moving anyway. The double blockade solves nothing. It closes what is already closed, threatens who cannot be threatened, and gives Beijing and Moscow exactly the excuse they've been waiting for.

🚨 BREAKING: President Trump announces NAVAL BLOCKADE on the Strait of Hormuz after the Iranians failed during negotiations... ...and the Navy will interdict EVERY SINGLE VESSEL in international waters that paid a toll to Iran. TRUMP IS TAKING THE STRAIT 🔥 "Any Iranian who fires at us, or at peaceful vessels, will be BLOWN TO HELL!" "Effective immediately, the United States Navy, the Finest in the World, will begin the process of BLOCKADING any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz." "At some point, we will reach an “ALL BEING ALLOWED TO GO IN, ALL BEING ALLOWED TO GO OUT” basis, but Iran has not allowed that to happen by merely saying, “There may be a mine out there somewhere,” that nobody knows about but them." "I have also instructed our Navy to seek and interdict every vessel in International Waters that has paid a toll to Iran." "No one who pays an illegal toll will have safe passage on the high seas. We will also begin destroying the mines the Iranians laid in the Straits." "The Blockade will begin shortly. Other Countries will be involved with this Blockade. Iran will not be allowed to profit off this Illegal Act of EXTORTION. They want money and, more importantly, they want Nuclear. Additionally and, at an appropriate moment, we are fully “LOCKED AND LOADED,” and our Military will finish up the little that is left of Iran! President DONALD J. TRUMP"
