The Cyclopes, like Polyphemus from The Odyssey, are a different race altogether. The earliest Cyclopes were also children of Gaia and Uranus, but the Cyclopes Odysseus encounters are generally portrayed as descendants of Poseidon and later generations of Cyclopes. They are one-eyed giants who live independently and outside civilized society.

These are the giant cannibals Odysseus encounters after leaving Aeolus’ island. Unlike the Gigantes, their exact origin is unclear. Ancient sources simply describe them as a race of gigantic humans who inhabited a distant land. Their king, Antiphates, led the attack that destroyed all but one of Odysseus’ ships.

couldn't disagree more because the choice to make circe an "ordinary" woman who is a victim of war and not a "seductress" adds a lot to her character and works perfectly within the adaptation

As much as I love Samantha Morton, and her scene in The Odyssey is my favorite in the film, I don't love how Nolan chose to portray her in his usual grim, gray "realistic" style, turning a seductive, solar nymph-turned-enchantress (traditionally depicted in art as a lush, radiant figure) into an archetypal medieval witch.

today my roommate got his dui FROM JANUARY dismissed bc the tests came back and he was, as we all knew, sober as fuck. last week the county gave that cop an award for making 100 dui arrests within the last year. like u cannot make this shit up 💀

Agamemnon did make it home to Mycenae, but his homecoming became one of the darkest stories in Greek mythology.
He returned victorious after the 10-year Trojan War, bringing the Trojan princess and prophetess Cassandra back with him as a captive and concubine.
While Agamemnon was away, his wife, Clytemnestra, had grown to hate him. One major reason was that before sailing to Troy, Agamemnon had sacrificed their daughter Iphigenia to appease Artemis and secure favorable winds for the Greek fleet.
Clytemnestra had also begun a relationship with Aegisthus, Agamemnon’s cousin and longtime enemy.
When Agamemnon arrived home, Clytemnestra welcomed him with apparent warmth, but it was a trap. Depending on the version of the myth, she either:
wrapped him in a robe or net while he was bathing and struck him with an axe, or
simply murdered him in the bath.
