It was a pleasure to join the Chair, fellow Governors, and members of the executive team for a retirement meal honouring the outgoing @coleggwent Principal and Chief Executive. The Chair delivered a heartfelt speech, highlighting @GuyLacey2 remarkable leadership and the lasting legacy he leaves behind. Under his stewardship, Coleg Gwent has not only grown but also solidified its reputation as one of the best-performing colleges in the country, consistently achieving outstanding results and making a significant impact on education in the region. On a personal note, I’d like to express my deepest gratitude for all the support he has provided me since I joined the Board. His guidance and dedication have been invaluable, and his commitment to excellence has inspired both staff and students alike. We are incredibly grateful for his contributions and wish him all the best in his well-deserved retirement.

In Blaenau Gwent the @coleggwent #CyberCollegeCymru course and the @ThalesNDEC school outreach programme are giving young people the skills needed to fill vital Cyber Security roles. But we need more. I raised this with the Deputy Prime Minister this morning.

Good first day in Helsinki on a @TaithWales funded exchange with colleagues from @ColegauCymru. Focus on how we build an effective vocational education and training system in Wales. Discussion on future skills, competencies rather than qualifications, and trust in profession.
