I want my country to do well. But things are going to get v messy after Starmer announces he’s stepping down.
Mainly because all of his / Reeves successors will take the Labour Party even more to the left. And that will make UK borrowing untenable in my view.

I want my country to do well - but this is not going to end well unless govt changes its approach. And the Iran conflict has still not really fed into the UK economy - that happens over the next 6-9 months. If Burnham or Rayner take over from Starmer then things get worse 100%

Successive ministers and civil servants were repeatedly told that this “reform” would lead to less houses for rent, higher rents for renters etc etc.
In rural areas like #Northumberland landlords are selling up rental properties and there are far fewer rental properties. Grrrrhh

The results of the Renters Rights Act: - mass evictions as landlords sell up - huge fall in the number of properties available to rent (flat hunting is worse than ever) - landlords/letting agents intensely vetting tenants - mega-landlords taking over the market - traditional student lets effectively banned Good for renters with £50,000 in the bank ready to buy. Bad for just about everyone else. The consequences were obvious to anyone who has studied economics and yet Ministers just didn’t listen. And now we have politicians calling for full rent controls.
