@wspd1pio What type of debris was this to cause a 21 vehicle pile up at this early morning

There was debris in the roadway that originally caused a 10-car pile up as originally called out around 5am this morning. That quickly escalated to approximately 20 vehicles being involved. Multiple Troopers are still en route the scene. More updates to follow.

@wsdot_tacoma Hey WSDOT, can the striping between S 178 th st to just past Kent Des Moines rd on I -5 . Can those orange alternating lines be put in. You can’t see the lanes. Marking are horrible along that stretch. south bound

Northbound SR-509 south of Port of Tacoma Rd there is standing water over the roadway in lanes 1 and 2. @wsdot_tacoma is responding to clear the storm drains. Expect delays in the area. -DS

The *main event* of our storm is about to make it onto the coast where the "sting jet" on the south side of the low is poised to hit the West Port/Long Beach area. 60-70mph gusts will be possible in the next couple hours wherever this exactly moves ashore. Then it will move inland towards the Puget Sound where it will also bring strong winds of about 40-55mph with many more power outages likely on top of the 60,000+ customers already out.

This driver fled from Troopers NB I-5 in Federal Way. Troopers deployed spike strips as the vehicle exited to NB I-405 in Tukwila. The vehicle hit the spikes, slowed and a PIT was used to safely end the pursuit. The driver is in custody for DUI and Eluding.

@KIRO7Seattle Uber and Lyfts and these bars and clubs need to work together to make uber and Lyft ride homes reasonable.. but yea drunk drivers need to stay off the road..

I’m thinking about changing our uniforms back to sheriff colors like green and/or tan. That will differentiate us from city police. I think it will also be good for morale. Maybe even change the color of our patrol vehicles. What do you think?

#GraysHarbor: Troopers had a very interesting morning when callers reported buffalos 🦬 on SR 12/SR 8. They escaped their ranch and had to be wrangled early this morning. Luckily no animals or humans were harmed!

@wspd2pio On this note, are we advised to directly call 911 if we see erratic driving or if we see potentially dangerous debris on a roadway? or is there another/better number for those kinds of reports?

Our 911 dispatchers just received a call about a vehicle driving NB I5 in Federal Way. The caller advised the vehicle was erratic and had almost crashed multiple times. Troopers located the vehicle and the driver was arrested for suspected impairment. Almost 4x the legal limit!!
