#WorldWildlifeDay win! Trumpeter swans, once nearly gone from Ohio, are now thriving with over 900 birds in the state. The swans utilize wetland habitats for nesting and raising young. Improving wetlands through H2Ohio projects creates cleaner water and more habitat for wildlife.

Partner with us to improve Ohio’s rivers! The H2Ohio Rivers Program is seeking project proposals for FY 2027 with a March 3 initial deadline. Eligible projects: river restoration, large trash cleanups, and water quality surveys. Contact jon.horn@dnr.ohio.gov for more info.

H2Ohio Best Management Practices🤝Conservation Agronomists What’s an agronomist? Agronomists are agricultural scientists specializing in crop care, production, and sustainable agriculture. They help farmers implement sustainable practices, amongst many other jobs!

@OhioEPA and #H2Ohio work hard every day to make long-lasting, positive impacts on Ohio's vital water resources like rivers and streams through projects and practices that are science-based, data-driven, and cost-effective.

Helping to reduce salt on #Ohio's roadways since 2023! More than $4.3 million in #H2Ohio Chloride Reduction Grants has gone to almost 100 communities in the state for storage and equipment needs to help limit the amount of salt that gets on roads, and waterways.

Through the #H2Ohio Rivers Program, @OhioEPA and @ohiodnr help to fund the removal or modification of aging dams that, over time, have negatively impacted water quality by depleting oxygen, trapping sediment, and disrupting fish migration.

There are crops under that snow! Have you noticed green crops on farm fields this winter? Those are likely cover crops. Overwintering cover crops are one of #H2Ohio’s Best Management Practices. Cover crops help keep nutrients in the soil that could run off in melting snow.

"[H2Ohio] increases the quality of life for the residents of this area." In 2024, H2Ohio and #OhioEPA awarded Portage County with $2 million to connect 195 homes to the Ravenna Wastewater Treatment Plant, stopping sanitation issues that had been an issue since the 1980s!
