I won't believe that AGI is here until I don't have to floss anymore and I can smoke cigarettes again. Those are the two main things for me

Every successful founder over 40 has a Steve Jobs story it seems. Younger founders don't have anyone like that. 'Steve Jobs called me to Menlo Park in 2009. I thought our pricing was perfect. He looked at our demo for 30 seconds and said 'You're solving the wrong problem.' That one conversation saved our company.' Or: 'Jobs saw our design and said it was shit. Not the pixels—the thinking. Spent 3 hours walking me through why simplicity isn't about removing features, it's about understanding what matters. Changed everything.' @tim_cook talks about how Jobs taught him that the strongest leaders change their minds when presented with better evidence. @bchesky has mentioned how Jobs would give brutal product feedback that seemed harsh but was always right. He died in 2011. Who could have replaced that role? Elon: more iconoclast than mentor. Thiel: a contrarian thinker but not paternal. Andreessen: an investor, not hands-on product Graham: has YC wisdom but it's systematic, not personal. That unique combination—product genius + brutal honesty + genuine paternal investment in others' success—nobody else has all three. He was like this immune system for bad ideas, brutally calling out mediocre thinking before it became entrenched. Without that forcing function, I wonder if the ecosystem lost some of its edge.

I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.

@halsodyssey try to stay on following feed... if i've not been on for a while, the FYP will show updates about things i would have to scroll too far to find. would love a FYP that was just 'following' but algorithmically sorted, so i could preserve a level of choice/control in content
