Lane Kiffin spent years repairing his reputation and has destroyed it with this exit. He’s a very good coach, maybe great, but (all allegedly) extorting Ole Miss on his way out—threatening to poach coaches and players unless they let him coach in the playoffs, ghosting his players as they reach out, and giving assistants an ultimatum to leave now or have no job at LSU—is extraordinarily selfish. He’ll say it’s about the players, but you don’t leave a school in shambles, with many of those same players continuing to play at Ole Miss when this is over, if you truly care about them. Leave everywhere better than you found it. Lane is doing the opposite.
