Tier 1= T-he I-ntentional E-ducation R-equired 1-st Tier 1 must be designed & delivered at high levels 1st for the rest to work. Any other path just leads to less effectiveness and more work. The truth we must accept & then act upon.

@letsquitteachin The problem I often see is that Ss with disabilities aren't getting quality Tier I instruction; it makes it harder to ensure they are getting the specialized instruction that's called for in their IEPs. We go in looking to share SDI & end up giving Tier I suggestions instead.

Effective Tier 1 instruction has to be a focus if we want to close the achievement gap...especially for students with disabilities.

ALL learners receive Tier 1 learning. It's where we make all the needed improvement. If scores are dropping, if misbehaviors are increasing, if gaps are widening, if Tier 2 & 3 population is growing, then it's a Tier 1 learning issue. We must acknowledge, accept, & act on this
