BUY YOURSELF SOME RUBATO BEFORE ITS ALL GONE. I am honored to have helped test the console versions and overall get the full experience early. Played it over 7 times through and I still LOVE IT. Please enjoy this unofficial "American Boxart" piece i did for it. #Rubato #Dconn

It does! When the full game drops, there will be a feature in the options menu for both PS5 and Switch that will allow you to transfer and continue your progress from the demo

@Head_cannon Does demo progress transfer to full game by chance?

I’m sorry, but it’s been nearly ten years so I’ll need some help with this one- When did I ever say I was actually satisfied with Sonic Mania? There have been some utterly ridiculous assumptions made in this conversation so I’ll be opting out. People believe what they want

Besides, you got "Sonic Mania 2". They just called it "Sonic Superstars" instead. That game is a master class in creating something so concerned with copying its predecessor that it learns all the wrong lessons and poorly reimplements basic ideas rather than iterate and innovate

I do wish people would stop calling a potential new 2D classic (note the lower-case) Sonic game, regardless of who would develop it, "Sonic Mania 2". This severely undersells the concept or any plans anyone may have, as a true, literal "Sonic Mania 2" would be creatively bankrupt

@BoomaDingo You think I don't agree with you? Tell it to Sega.

@AfroRyan I never said it was appropriate. I said this is what you get when you ask Sega for "Sonic Mania 2"

Not to argue with you, and I realize part of this is strictly budgetary since 3D animation is so much cheaper than frame by frame 2D, but I will never feel like a game with 3D models would be an appropriate Sonic Mania 2. I'm aware the original pitch of Mania 2 used that style, and had it come out, I'd still have complained then. I will argue until the day I die that any "reimagining" of an 8-bit/16-bit game that doesn't use either hi-res sprite artwork or honest to goodness hand-drawn animation is doing a disservice those games' fans and memories. I didn't ONCE in my childhood imagine Sonic or Street Fighter or Shinobi "in the future" sequels as 3D. Sure, after the invent of 3D games that outlook shifted, but when Sonic 3 was out, I imagined a hypothetical Sonic 8 (or whatever; any hypothetical decade-wait sequel) as a playable cartoon. I imagined nearly all 2D franchises as high-end playable cartoons when I daydreamed. I know I'm not in a minority either. Younger people never looked at a game's paper manual, never looked at the artwork in those manuals, and daydreamed about the videogame actually looking like that. That's actually why I think the Render96 is such a cool project; it presents Mario 64 in a way that its marketing wished it could be. It looks laughable now by today's standards, but that's what kids dreamed of back in a very similar way to older 2D games. Most younger people now just look at these graphics as various "styles," which isn't entirely inaccurate, but the reality was they were limitations. If Sega could have made Sonic as a literal hand-drawn videogame, they would have. Some studios even of that era got pretty close (like the Virgin Disney games). When Saturn basically achieved this level of fidelity, I was stoked to see what the future held, ultimately to be disappointed as the entire industry moved to 3D. I had to wait until 2025 for a hand-drawn Shinobi. I'm thrilled it happened. I'm thrilled there's some developers who have that vision for making sequels or remakes of 2D games. The fangame Sonic Freedom is actually what I wanted out of a Sonic Mania 2: a push to evolve 2D animation and assets as far as they can go.

Also since someone decided to shoot his mouth off on things he doesn't understand, I reiterate- we do not receive, nor have we ever received any residuals/royalties for any of our contract work. Further, Sega Forever delisting S1&2 mobile has nothing at all to do with Headcannon
