@Bruce_Adamson We have lost two young men in our family too - aged 28 and 33. The hole they left doesn’t get smaller but life around it grows bigger I suppose over the years.

It would have been my older brothers Michael's 47th birthday today. He died as a child, but I wonder what he would have made of 2022. My thoughts are with everyone grieving at the moment, especially those who aren't able to say goodbye in the way they would want to due to covid.

30 years ago today the UK ratified the UNCRC. Almost a year after it passed unanimously in @ScotParl the UNCRC is still not law in Scotland. Rights for under 18s must become be law ASAP so that they can get the legal protection that they need. 1/3

@JuneOSullivan @MadeForMums @PrimaBabyMag @FamilyLives In Shankhill during the troubles in NI I heard of a project where every pregnant woman had a volunteer older mum befriender from 6 months pregnancy till child went to nursery. Could baby sit, iron, chat, run errands, play with the child, listen, be there. Home Start for everyone.

My awesome friends and family have helped raise £75 for @mfrcashforkids by donating in place of presents for me, that's a whole bag for one child and half of another! I'm £25 away from having the value for 2 children to have something to wake up to on Christmas day ❤️

Of this painful trail to read - this is surely the nub - “we don’t listen to children’s stress, to feelings. We focus on behaviour.” Listening, holding those feelings, showing we care these are the fundamentals. But professionals need support to be able to carry that burden.

15. One way to describe a 'trauma-informed approach' is that it brings t KINDNESS OF LISTENING TO PAIN into our ordinary practice. You begin to realise how poor our society is at this basic complex kindness. We don't listen to childrn's stress, to feelings. We focus on behaviour.
