A True Life Story
I am alive. But I learned the hard way that trust is now a rare currency.
This is my story. The story of betrayal that cost me everything… and a mistake that changed the course of my life. To this day, I haven’t recovered what I lost. I trusted my friend. I called him my brother. We grew up together. We went to the same schools. I would have given him my last $ So when he told me, “Come, invest in this business. My father has a shop for rent for you,” I believed him with my whole heart.I did everything right.
1. Business Plan Finance, target customers, geographic area, legal registration, growth strategy, projected revenue, and location.
2. The Business- A sole proprietorship. 100% mine. Unisex shoes. Fashion was my passion, and I knew the market.
3.The Location - This was everything. The wrong location kills the right product. He assured me his father’s shop was perfect for my target customers. And also my research show me that.
That day, I went to the market with hope in my chest. I spent *50% of my business capital* buying stock. In my head: 10% for rent, 40% saved for growth and restocking.He knew his father would not give me the shop. But he let me spend anyway. After I spend I came to meet them, He just starting giving me an excuse, then I meet his father " Said Felix didn't talk to me and I even promise to someone." 😭
For the next 2+ months I was stranded. Running from pillar to post looking for a shop. In the process, I spent another *30% of my remaining capital* just to survive and keep trying.
I am a graduate. I didn’t have savings. I took a loan to start this business. Zero interest, but 100% pressure. That betrayal broke me. It changed my faith in people. But it did not kill my dream.
Today, I am still in the shoe business. After many challenges, after many nights of “how will I do this,” I am standing. Because life is not 100% perfect. And neither are we. But we keep going.

2. Restock & Diversify. Bring in quality unisex shoes in bulk, different sizes, trends, and price points. Right now I’m limited. This capital lets me buy directly and get better margins.
3. Branding & Online Reach. Build a proper brand: signage, packaging, and an online store + social media ads. So customers can find me even beyond my street.
4. Hire & Grow. Employ 1-2 people to help with sales. That means I can serve more customers and focus on growth instead of just survival.
5. Repay & Rebuild - Clear part of the loan I took to start, and use the rest to create an emergency fund so one setback will never collapse the business again.
This $5,000 won’t just grow a shoe store. It will restore a man’s faith that hard work + honesty can still win.
It will turn a story of loss into a story of comeback. It will create jobs, serve customers better, and prove that even after betrayal, you can rise.
