@racehorsesrace1 Magnitude of factors, a lot of time it’s not the trainers which are at fault but the owners. People jump into the racing game not factoring in the unexpected costs involved. We have spent over £80k in vet bills for Spirit. Nyla barely been on a track for 2yrs due to issues.

By the way don't think Flat yards are any better than NH ones when it comes to horse death Year in, year out, they tend to top, or be close to top, of trainer fatality lists So people, WE HAVE A HUGE PROBLEM

@joshtoole91 Very outdated rules which the public 50yrs ago would be fine with. Times have changed and they still are not waking up. It’s prob got 10yrs lifecycle left I would say then it will be gone.

@HGrayston Agree re breeze ups, god awful practice. You go on about perception yes I do agree however let’s not just say this is a NH issue, on the level you’ve a camera showing 6/7 grown men literally lifting clearly reluctant at times trembling animal into a starting stall. Looks awful

Yet again National Hunt racing is its own worst enemy. Logic seemingly out the window, I lost my interest in that side of the sport years ago. Hearing the news on Envoi Allen reiterates my position that the sport still isn’t doing enough to put animal welfare first…

@joshtoole91 Yep don’t disagree, I would be much stricter with trainers on stall training at home. Typically the same trainers who have issues with their horses in the stalls. It’s a pity as there are a lot of very good people on the national hunt side of the game but they still have 1/2

@joshtoole91 I would also ban breeze ups purchasing, from experience I can see the damage it causes pushing them that hard that early in their life. The sport needs to do better and national hunt racing needs to to think much more carefully about public perception, time is running out

@HGrayston Come on mate, because flat horses don’t just drop down after a race from time to time do they ? Tiger cliff and Thomas Chippendale both had that happen to them in the same season for Cecil a few years back, we all know with horses it can happen anywhere at any point

@joshtoole91 Totally different though, once a flat horse is beaten he’s eased up and that’s it. You had Envoi Allen being pushed to limit when well beaten and Go on Chez being ridden when clearly the horse was exhausted and had nothing left.

Regardless of what you think of Trump, when that man takes a shot he doesn’t miss - 2 regimes taken down within 3 months.
