For everyone saying "#IUBB SHOULDA PLAYED IN THE NIT."
Big Ten (and Big East/Big 12 teams) CANNOT play in the NIT due to a relationship their conferences have with Fox. They have to play in the Crown tournament in Vegas. They cannot accept an NIT bid.

Darian DeVries didn’t coach at Indiana during the 2025 fiscal year.
Also, calling it a $32 million team is misleading. That was the total expenses for the basketball program, not the roster. It included Woodson’s buyout and DeVries’ buyout from WVU too.

I hate to harp on the @IHSA_IL. But, the state boys basketball finals used to be so good. As a child, I would watch the state tourney on TV. Glued to it all weekend. The Do-or-Die Friday. Packed gyms each weekend. It was a spectacle. It’s never coming back.

@HHSRaiderAP Beyond the size of the market being very different, coaches also sign multi-year contracts with financial protections for the employer so they don't jump around.
We're seeing that with college players' rev share deals now, too.

On limiting transfers, Tuberville and Murphy had an exchange. Tuberville says athletes should be able to transfer once before a penalty of a year (one-time policy). Said Murphy: “Coaches too?” Tuberville, after a few seconds of silence: “You got me there, Murphy.”

Now that yours are done with college I assume you prefer they be compensated at what the market says they are worth?

@HHSRaiderAP Players being compensated does not absolutely equate to a new school every year.
Those guardrails could be collectively bargained just as they are in your profession and mine.
But the schools seem terrified of that, so they keep seeking new ways to impose the old restrictions.
