people have asked me frequently why epic changed course and partnered with nuance, Microsoft, abridge, etc on AI this thread is why - they decided they wanted the upside of AI without the direct regulatory burden

back when i was in the Netherlands working for epic, we decided to do a weekend adventure we called the "traject vrij challenge"

If i'm reading this right, they'll include incentives / funding for actual infrastructure build (assuming pop health, care mgmt, etc.). Very very cool, excited to see how this continues to shape up

Additionally, I’m really enjoying reading about @ONC_HealthIT’s intentions with their 9 measure updates. It’s a very product centric approach to understanding what channels are effective for interop, and I assume that’s input into where to invest in future rule making

FTC moving to bar non-competes. In terms of health tech, this could mean a HUGE shift of Epic talent.
(Epic has a 2 year non-compete that includes all customers, all competitors, and anyone else they list, such as digital health cos and a random YMCA.)

@dvasishtha Most MA focused primary care built their own (OSH, Iora, CB, etc). Closest thing I’ve seen is Elation but doesn’t really have the pop health and team based care mgmt that’s needed at scale. Could change if ACO REACH takes off

Fun digital health history thing I heard recently (& plz correct me if I’m wrong @Jonathan_Bush):
AthenaHealth started out as an OB-GYN clinic business but pivoted after developing software for itself & realizing there was a bigger need.
I wonder if that explains the name…
