@silverpebble I responded stating I prefer 2 because looking at it after 1 I had a calming and uplifting "ahhh, that's been sorted out" feeling. BUT then I went back and did it the other way round, and I had a muted response to 2 and an enlivening "oooh, something's happening" response to 1.

I have a question—Therapists, when exploring someone’s rationale for behavior in our work is there “rule” not to ask clients/patients-WHY questions? Did anyone ever tell you not to begin questions w/ “why”? If so, what was the reasoning? #TherapistTwitter #TherapistsConnect

@bennewmark That my existing framework for thinking about expectations is almost certainly inadequate. A belief that they can and most likely will surprise me in what they can do and even more so, how they will do it.

Been thinking a lot about what high expectations for those with learning disabilities means. It's hard because all experiences are so disparate. If you love someone with learning disabilities what does high expectations mean to you?

@Mrs_Bentos In which case (and you) should take comfort in the certainty that they are not at fault and there has been a mistake/error or something wrong in the process at the other the other side. It’s the teacher’s turn to do some learning!

@Mrs_Bentos There’s a gap between the kids’ and the teachers’ perceptions. I’d apply gentle curiosity about how this has come to be so in both directions.
