@CiceroTJones @taliaotg I had to see for myself, and oh, the reviews...
English

@taliaotg That’s less than $6 worth. Kind of want to buy a box and hide them around the house.

@crimefish Thank you for the word (and mental concept of) 'oubliette'!

@rickyegan_ @musingsofadr For letting every teacher know for e.g. don't pick on this student to answer in front of the class, or make sure the LSA/TA checks in with them regularly because they find it hard to ask for help...
English

@rickyegan_ @musingsofadr While every trauma is different, I think we know enough about how the nervous system responds to trauma to build a safety and support system around these students without it becoming a full-time alternative profession for teachers. SEND provision already has processes
English

@rickyegan_ @musingsofadr slightly patronising or inauthentic - they knew when someone wasn't really listening, and because that teacher had the power to deny them respite, or to issue consequences, it made the whole place feel unsafe.
English

@rickyegan_ @musingsofadr and they'd struggle to attend. Repeat times 5 or 6 and they can't get near the building. I think 'relational' is a good word cos that trust is paramount. Staff they didn't know, who ignored agreed plan and took them back to lessons before they were ready, or who were even
English

@rickyegan_ @musingsofadr I think as well that teachers need to think about the power differential when they speak to students. Both mine were in survival mode (masking +) in school and would seem 'fine', but all it took was something phrased badly by a teacher they didn't really trust,
English

@musingsofadr because these measures, assurances, are hard to maintain in the school environment as it is. It would need flexibility in some of the expectations that apply to students generally, and at the student's request. In my experience that is a common institutional barrier (4/end)
English

@musingsofadr in the support they receive, they are better able to regulate their nervous system responses to 'triggers'. I haven't done a TIP course, so don't know if there is an expectation for teachers to act as therapists (very bad idea obviously), but it doesn't work in schools (3/)

@anon_opin South Manchester here - deeply obligated to the Victorians who built the infrastructure bringing us tap water from the Lake District. Motorways are great when they work and a total disaster when they don't. Which is often.

@MsIbegbuna Oh my goodness! Hope you get some time to lie down in a dark air-conditioned place at some point today.
