I have used the username "HPUFan" with an avatar of my favorite retired HPU logo since 2010 to support my school who doesn't (and still doesn't) have enough dedicated fans. However, I mostly go to other schools' games because it's more fun to travel around than be disappointed.

These teams used to charge for baseball, but no longer do and thus I give them a longer leash when it comes to bad play.

I don't think Wofford seems to realize that area of the plate was already wet. Hope they're okay playing in mud.

Wofford has won the prior two games over UNCG this weekend, both listed at exactly 3 hours which makes me think Wofford wasn't paying any attention to game length when submitting the box score.

Still remember the time Wofford lost to Western Carolina in the 2021 Southern Conference Tournament that went longer than yesterday's DH in Mars Hill, even if you include the 56 minutes in between games. Fortunately the coach of that Wofford team is now at Boston College.

Baseball 2026 Game 13: Anderson at Mars Hill, final 4-1 Mars Hill. Pitches per minute was 1.89. Not better play than D1, but at least that was faster.

4-1 🦁 after 6. That should do it for Anderson, shame that a team in an old Braves minor league affiliate stadium can't be better.

2-1 MHU mid 6th. AU just getting under the ball too much.

2-1 Lions after 5. Teams have combined for three hits so far this game, all on balls that arguably should have been caught.

Trojans still not getting it done at the plate, 2-1 Mars Hill mid 5th.

Fielding better this time for Anderson, 2-1 MHU after 4.

2-1 Lions mid 4th. There's a divot in the RH batters' box that might be hurting the footing of the hitters today.

2-1 Mars Hill after 3. I think the difference in fielding between D1 and D2 is greater than the difference in pitching.

1-0 AU mid 3rd. Pitch clock hasn't always worked well, though expecting a D2 team to operate a pitch clock well is unrealistic.

1-0 Trojans after 2. Anderson at least has bullpen fully available (aside from anybody who might have gone yesterday).

1-0 Anderson mid 2nd. Trojans get first run of the day after a couple of weak hits, which is basically how Mars Hill scores last game.

Now as far as D1-like incompetence, the first game ended more than 45 minutes ago and they don't look close to starting.

Probably not going to be as fast as last game, at least not per inning. I will say that we completed 9 innings last game in less than 2 1/2 hours from scheduled first pitch despite incompetent start and an injury delay, so it can be done.
