A minority family has once again been left bloodied amid allegations of extortion-linked violence involving BNP-affiliated criminals. In Jessore, a housewife was brutally beaten after refusing to pay an extortion demand. In the Bejpara area of Jessore city, a 38-year-old housewife named Soma Saha was severely injured after being assaulted for refusing to pay extortion money. The incident took place on Sunday (March 8) at around 5:30 pm on Bonani Road. The injured woman, Soma Saha, is the wife of Akhil Kumar Biswas from the same locality. She is currently receiving treatment at the 250-bed Jessore General Hospital. According to reports, the attacker demanded 1 million taka in extortion from Soma Saha. When she refused to pay, he allegedly became enraged and struck her on the head with a wooden stick. The blow split her head open, leaving her bleeding and collapsing to the ground. Family members later rushed her to the hospital for treatment. This incident, critics say, once again reflects the resurgence of violent extortion politics associated with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. In particular, members of minority communities are allegedly being targeted through intimidation, extortion demands, and violent attacks—tactics many say echo past patterns. Bangladesh has previously witnessed what critics describe as a dark period under BNP rule, when minority families frequently faced attacks, looting, and abuse. The recent incident in Jessore has revived memories of that troubling time. Observers warn that the attack in Jessore is not merely violence against one family—it raises broader concerns about law and order and the safety of minority communities in Bangladesh.⁩ #Bangladesh #HumanRights #HindusUnderAttack #BNPJamaatViolence

Has Bangladesh Become a “Horror Story”? The brutal killing of a 7-year-old girl in Sitakunda, Chattogram has shocked the nation. She was found critically injured inside an eco-park and later died at Chattogram Medical College Hospital after two days of treatment. The case, initially filed as attempted murder, has now been upgraded to homicide. The tragedy has reignited public concern over law and order, as several recent killings of women and children across the country intensify fears about safety. Authorities say investigations are ongoing and urge the public not to jump to conclusions. But many are asking: Are stronger reforms needed to protect the most vulnerable? #Bangladesh #Sitakunda #JusticeForChildren #LawAndOrder #HumanRights

From extortion rackets strangling businesses to gang rapes and targeted assassinations, BNP cadres have turned Bangladesh into a lawless fiefdom. Since August 2024, Bangladesh has descended into a nightmare of unchecked criminality and political thuggery. What should have been a period of transition and hope has instead become a grotesque showcase of one party’s predatory grip on society. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) stands accused, with overwhelming evidence, of orchestrating a systematic campaign of extortion, kidnapping, assault, murder, and rape. This is not isolated misconduct by rogue elements. It is a deliberate pattern of lawlessness that has claimed hundreds of lives, shattered countless families, and poisoned the nation’s future. The numbers are damning. The reality is worse. And the international community can no longer afford to look away. Mob Violence in Dhaka Over March 7 Speech Tensions erupted near Shahbagh Police Station in Dhaka after student activists played the historic March 7 speech of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Dhaka University student Sk Tasnim Afroz Emi and a companion were reportedly beaten and humiliated by a mob after setting up a loudspeaker to protest the earlier detention of two people over commemorating the speech. Witnesses say activists from Dhaka University Central Students' Union and Jatiya Chhatra Shakti confronted the group before dragging the sound system inside the police station. Police say an investigation is underway, but the incident has raised fresh concerns about mob violence and political tensions surrounding one of the most historic speeches of Bangladesh’s independence movement. #Bangladesh #Dhaka #March7 #MobViolence

⁨📷⁩ ⁨Extortion and Violence Alleged in Magura — Awami League Leader Attacked, Tk 500,000 Demanded ---- In Magura, fresh allegations of political violence and extortion have surfaced after an attack on a local political leader. The incident reportedly took place in the Chaulia Union area of Magura Sadar, where activists linked to the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) have been accused of assaulting a leader of the Bangladesh Awami League. The victim, Kazi Jasim Uddin — a leader of Tejgaon Thana Awami League and former organisational secretary of the Bangabandhu Projonmo League central committee — was allegedly attacked near the Magura PTI School. According to reports, a group led by local BNP leader Sakayat Hossain Saku reportedly carried out the assault. Jasim Uddin was beaten severely and left bloodied. The attackers also allegedly took away his motorcycle, two mobile phones and the cash he was carrying. They later reportedly demanded Tk 500,000 as extortion and issued threats. Observers say the incident reflects the continuing tensions between rival political groups. Critics of the alleged attack argue that such acts of violence, robbery and extortion are being used as tools to intimidate political opponents, even as the Bangladesh Nationalist Party publicly speaks of democratic politics.⁩ #BangladeshCrisis #AwamiLeague #HumanRights

Bangladesh Is Turning into a Land of Corpses: In a Country Where the Body of an Abused Child Lies Near a Police Station, Talking About Security Is a Cruel Farce ---- In the Kadamtali area of the capital, yet another disturbing picture of the country’s severe security crisis has emerged. Slightly inside from the Rayerbag bus stand, not far from the police station, the body of an unidentified child has been recovered. The condition of the child’s body clearly suggests that the victim was brutally tortured before being killed. The most alarming aspect of the incident is that it occurred very close to a police station. If such brutality can happen almost under the watch of law enforcement, then where does the safety of ordinary citizens lie? This incident is not just a murder; it symbolizes a catastrophic failure of the state’s security system. A situation has now emerged where even a child is not safe. Incidents of abduction, torture, rape, and murder are rising, pushing society toward a frightening state of uncertainty. We demand a swift investigation into this brutal killing and the immediate arrest of those responsible. But the fundamental question remains: if even a child is not safe in this country, then where is the state’s security? #Bangladesh #BangladeshCrisis

Mrinal Kanti Halder — a decorated freedom fighter of 1971 — has watched his home burn to ashes. On 5 August 2024, activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party allegedly looted what they could. Later, members of Jamaat-e-Islami reportedly set fire to what remained. Two parties. One target. His alleged “offences”? He is Hindu. He is affiliated with the Awami League. He holds influence within his local Sanatan community. Those accused have not fled. Locals reportedly know their names. Only the state does not. Or perhaps it does — and remains unmoved.⁩ #HumanRightsViolations #Bangladesh #HindusUnderAttack

Following the national election, police authorities have issued firm directives regarding the activities of the Awami League, whose operations have been banned. Police Headquarters instructed field-level officers to arrest any leaders or activists found engaging in party activities. They also directed that no political program of a prohibited party should be allowed and that legal action must be taken against attempts to create disorder. According to reports, some confusion initially existed among local police when Awami League leaders and activists began reappearing in different areas after the election. In response, a virtual meeting was held to clarify enforcement procedures. Separately, Rajshahi Range DIG Mohammad Shahjahan issued a written order stating that leaders and activists of banned organizations who were released on bail but are trying to reorganize should be shown arrested in other cases. The letter also noted that individuals not displaying such activity do not need to be newly arrested at this time. A day after the directive, three individuals who had been released on bail were rearrested. When the letter circulated on social media, it sparked widespread debate and criticism over its legality and implications. Police officials, including DIG Shahjahan and Additional IGP A.K.M. Awlad Hossain, have defended the actions as lawful and procedural, stating there is no scope for a banned party to carry out political programs. The situation raises broader concerns about freedom of association, political rights, and the limits of state authority in a post-election environment.⁩ #BangladeshCrisis #RiggedElection #BangladeshElection2026

Attacks on Bangladesh’s Hindu community — from assaults and temple vandalism to land seizures — are not new. But critics say the 17 months under Muhammad Yunus marked a troubling shift: the growing use of social media to incite mob violence through allegations of blasphemy. Rights groups allege that fake Facebook profiles were sometimes created in the names of Hindu youths, posting inflammatory or fabricated content. In several reported cases, accusations spread online even when the accused had no smartphones — or were already in custody. What often followed was mob mobilisation, attacks, arrests and, in some cases, expulsion from schools. The Human Rights Congress for Bangladesh Minorities says that between January and November 2025, minorities faced 73 mob incidents linked to blasphemy claims. Forty led to legal cases; five did not. Five minority students were expelled. Details of 23 further incidents are still being compiled. The organisation has described the pattern as deeply alarming. Several cases drew national attention: • In September 2024, 16-year-old Utsab Mondal was beaten in the presence of security personnel. Early reports claimed he had died; he later survived. • In October, Hridoy Pal of Faridpur was attacked following claims tied to an allegedly fake Facebook post and was later taken into custody. • On 22 June 2025, Paresh Chandra Shil and his son Bishnu Shil were beaten in Lalmonirhat Sadar over blasphemy allegations, their family says, stemming from a minor dispute. • In Rangpur and Nilphamari, homes were attacked and looted amid accusations against teenage students, with one now jailed under the Cyber Security Act. • On 18 September 2025, garment worker Dipu Chandra Das was lynched in Bhaluka, Mymensingh. Subsequent reports indicated no evidence of blasphemy was found. Observers described the killing as exceptionally brutal. Advocacy groups argue that amid what they describe as a growing “mob culture,” religiously framed accusations became a powerful trigger for violence. While similar incidents occurred under previous administrations, critics contend that the scale and frequency during this period were unprecedented. Legal experts are now urging the newly elected government to ensure impartial investigations and accountability. For many in the Hindu community, the scars of those 17 months remain — marked by fear, displacement and a profound sense of insecurity about their place in Bangladesh’s social fabric.⁩ #BangladeshCrisis #SaveBangladesh #HindusUnderAttackInBangladesh

Editors’ Council Demands Withdrawal of “False” Cases Against Journalists The Editors’ Council has called for the immediate withdrawal of what it describes as false and harassing cases filed against journalists across the country. In a statement issued Wednesday, Council President Nurul Kabir and General Secretary Dewan Hanif Mahmud said that since the political changeover on August 5, 2024, numerous journalists have been accused in murder and other criminal cases widely described as baseless. According to the Council, many journalists remain in prison, while others are forced to appear in court repeatedly — severely disrupting their professional work and undermining media independence. The statement emphasized that if credible, evidence-based allegations exist against any journalist, they should be addressed through transparent legal processes. However, politically motivated or harassing cases, it said, are unacceptable. The Council noted that it had repeatedly urged the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus to review and withdraw the disputed cases. Despite assurances, it claims no meaningful progress has been made. It has now called on the newly elected government to prioritise the issue and take swift action to protect press freedom and ensure journalists’ professional security. Meanwhile, senior journalist and political analyst Probir Kumar Sarker said the appeal comes amid ongoing allegations of harassment, arbitrary charges, detentions, and mob violence targeting media professionals since August 2024. He also criticised the Council for what he described as previous silence over attacks on more than 25 media outlets following the political transition. The debate underscores growing concerns over press freedom, accountability, and the safety of journalists during Bangladesh’s recent political transition.

Mymensingh: Mob Vandalism at Awami League Office Amid Police Presence A video circulating online appears to show a group of individuals vandalising a building housing a local office of the @albd1971 League in #Mymensingh - allegedly in the presence of police officers. The incident reportedly occurred in broad daylight, just two days after activists reopened the office and raised the party flag. Critics claim the episode reflects a broader pattern of political intimidation, while authorities have yet to issue a detailed public statement clarifying the circumstances. Human rights observers say the incident raises fresh concerns about the protection of civil and political rights, particularly for opposition or dissenting groups. Calls are growing for an impartial investigation into the events captured on video - including the role, if any, of law enforcement personnel present at the scene. 📍 Location: Mymensingh #Bangladesh #BangladeshCrisis #MobViolence

⁨Mob violence continues to dominate courtrooms, helpless Judges held hostage -- This video shows in the name of imposing law several lawyers, who resort to mob violence to bend law, openly entered courtroom and smashed tables and furnitures in front of a judge at a court run by chief judicial magistrate in Barishal. This glaring breach of law and total absence of law enforcement to uphold rule of law inside courtrooms have been institutionalised by Yunus regime, denying citizens fundamental right of fair trial. Under BNP regime the use of violence to bend law still continue to dictate judges, reducing the judiciary to kangaroo court.⁩ #Bangladesh #MobViolence #BangladeshCrisis

In Borhanuddin, Bhola, a Hindu family was reportedly attacked and threatened — despite having voted for the Bangladesh Nationalist Party in the recent election. The incident raises serious concerns about minority safety and whether political transitions are being accompanied by intimidation on the ground. When even those who participate in the electoral process face violence, it sends a troubling message about pluralism, religious coexistence, and constitutional protections in Bangladesh. An attack on one family is an attack on the country’s social fabric.⁩ #BangladeshCrisis #SaveBangladesh #AttackOnHindus

For the second year in a row, activists linked to Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir have reportedly marched in parts of Bangladesh urging restaurants to shut during fasting hours in Ramadan. Critics argue that such actions pressure non-fasting citizens and raise concerns about personal freedoms and the country’s secular principles. The incidents have reignited debate over religious tolerance, civil rights, and the role of political groups in public life. #Bangladesh #Secularism #ReligiousFreedom #Ramadan

Serious allegations have emerged from the Sherpur-1 election, raising urgent questions about transparency and fairness. ▪️ In several polling centres, up to five “plough” agents were present together—intimidating rival agents, threatening violence, and in many cases forcing them out. ▪️ Ordinary voters reportedly left centres out of fear, while in areas backed by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, ballot papers were allegedly stamped freely. ▪️ Despite repeated calls to the Deputy Commissioner and the UNO, effective action was not sustained. Striking forces restored order temporarily—but irregularities resumed once they left. ▪️ Presiding officers allegedly took signatures from agents in advance and later removed them from centres. ▪️ Vote counting was conducted at unusual speed, denying agents the chance to properly observe the process. ▪️ In some centres, doors were reportedly locked during counting. Elderly voters complained of standing in line for hours without progress. Meanwhile, heavy policing was concentrated in specific areas where one candidate claimed strong public support—raising further concerns about selective enforcement. The candidate from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party questioned how dramatically low vote totals at multiple centres could reflect the will of the people, especially given past electoral performance. CCTV footage exists at every centre. The nation deserves transparency. If democracy is to mean anything, these allegations must be independently investigated and the truth placed before the common. #Bangladesh #BangladeshElection2026 #BangladeshElection

According to local reports, four homes and two business establishments in Patikhalakata Union were attacked and vandalised after residents voted for Jamaat’s “scales” symbol. The attack was allegedly carried out by activists led by a local leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). In one case, after the home of a former principal was attacked for allegedly voting for Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, his wife was reportedly threatened, with warnings that he would be killed if found. These incidents come amid broader controversy surrounding the recent national election. Critics have described the vote as deeply flawed, citing allegations of ballot stuffing, booth capture, manipulation during counting and voter suppression. Since the results were announced, reports of post-election reprisals and intimidation have surfaced in several areas. Residents and observers are raising urgent questions: • Can democracy function where voters face retaliation for their political choices? • Where can ordinary citizens seek safety if homes and businesses are targeted after an election? • How can public trust be rebuilt amid allegations of violence and intimidation? Regardless of political affiliation, no citizen should face attack, threats, or destruction of property for exercising their right to vote. Authorities are being urged to investigate the incidents thoroughly, ensure accountability, and protect all citizens — regardless of party preference. #BangladeshCrisis #ElectionViolence #BangladeshElections2026
