#HS2 engineers have completed Curzon 2, the tallest bridge on the new high-speed network, and shortly we’ll be launching it over the Cross City railway line just outside #Birmingham city centre. Curzon 2 is part of the Curzon approaches, a network of five viaducts forming the final mile into HS2's Curzon Street Station. The 4,200 tonne bridge will reach its final position on 5th June creating a stunning new addition to the Birmingham skyline.🌉

We have awarded a contract to Taylor Woodrow Infrastructure Ltd and @aureos_group (TWA JV) to build the HS2’s🚄rolling stock depot and control centre on a 70-hectare brownfield site in Washwood Heath, Birmingham 👍. The development is set to create around 1,000 long-term jobs👷‍♂️and 500 construction roles — transforming a disused site into a major new business and logistics hub. Last weekend, engineers at #HS2 successfully pushed the first section of the 650m long Duddeston Junction viaduct over two freight lines – with the freight line reopening earlier than expected. Duddeston Junction viaduct is the longest of five viaducts forming the 'Curzon Approaches' – the one-mile stretch of railway that will carry high speed trains into #Birmingham Curzon Street Station.🚄

#HS2 engineers are getting ready to start a major construction programme in Saltley, #Birmingham.🏗️ On 10th May, Saltley Viaduct will close ahead of a four-stage demolition programme. It will be replaced with a brand new structure — two metres taller and wider, to make way for high-speed trains to be built below and create more space for cyclists and pedestrians above. Cross passage construction complete on our Northolt Tunnel in London 👍. A total of 34 cross passages within the tunnel have been complete; they connect the northbound and southbound tunnel and are a safety feature which allows passengers to cross to the adjacent tunnel in the event of an emergency. Britain’s railways are in demand like never before. Our engineers have begun installing a dedicated cycle bridge that will connect the Offchurch Greenway in Warwickshire to Route 41 of the national cycle network. The new bridge will keep cyclists and walkers away from passing traffic, making it an important local asset, as well as forming part of a national cycle route through the English countryside maintained by the charity Walk Wheel Cycle Trust. A few weeks ago, our engineers successfully slid a 1,620 tonne bridge over the Grand Union Canal and Ridgeway Lane in Ufton, Warwickshire. Harry, a Sub Agent working for BBV, talks through the process behind the Longhole Viaduct slide. He provides a great insight into the engineering and planning that goes into delivering these key structures for HS2 👇🎥.

This week we'd like to share these fantastic photos of the M6 South viaduct, West deck 📷👇. This structure is being assembled in four sections, the first 107 metre section will be slid over the M6 junction 4 southbound slip road on 11th April 2026. Alongside it, is the East deck which was safely installed over the M6 in three stages in 2025 👍. #HS2InPictures

Meet Morton, a BIM Manager, doing something a bit different. Using project data, he recreated a section of HS2 in Minecraft 🎮 - turning complex information into something interactive and easy to explore. This is a great example of how innovation plays a big role in building the railway🚄, and how people behind the scenes are finding new ways to bring it to life.
