It's weird seeing the T8 discourse over whether or not someone is playing the game if they say they don't like it, or people trying to right essays online. Whether you play or not doesn't really matter. The best way to actually see change is to not buy or refund that S3 pass lol.

Even though Tekken 8 is on crack right now. I still don't get why people say you don't need know to know how to play Tekken. Every Placer is still a veteran. The game Def rewards understanding Tekken.

@HSaintbeast They 100% could be making more profit from us comp and casual though. Like there is so much untapped for custom items people would buy they haven't done too. But Japan is very conservative.

Please read all before responding. S3 stuff: From a marketing perspective and someone who has worked in game marketing - they did a great job doing what you're supposed to do: get people hyped to play something. S3 having the words "back to basics" despite scepticism, had many excited for an older TEKKEN feel coming back. But there comes the disconnect that no publishing dept. can do anything about - and that's what the gameplay team decides. The designers/programmers/animators who made these choices were not aligned with the marketing for this update which I assume is why they ended up putting out a "we didn't mean x by back to basics" post before launch. We didn't need new moves (recycled animations) that take away the weaknesses of characters. The end of S2 with dlc - we were making progress with seeing characters have clear strengths/weaknesses so they can have counterplay and still thrive. Now we will see the struggle about to unfold with this update already. Pros are going to quit (esp if they are self-funded/no sponsor). The people who make us most hype watching the esports will not appear as often from this. The DLC will be overshadowed by the game balance decisions now. No more hype for Kuni, Bob, etc. while the game lives in this continued S2 1/2 feeling version. Monetization wise - I can't see people spending nearly as much as they would on TEKKEN shop/pass content while the game is like this. I know BNE wants to profit from this. Most spenders are probably the casuals but the casuals probably don't care about these changes. So you can only potentially make more $ from the audience who does if you adjust things. I hope things can be addressed. I hate seeing so many who loves this game have nothing good to say except for a "this nerf is good for Claudio" or something along those lines. What sentiment should be desired are phrases like "wow, BN really outdid themselves, thank you so much team!" - strive for greatness. It pays off not only to your community you foster, but your wallets as well.

You know I know the difference in casuals vs. pros bc I've been working at game studios for 10 yrs now with my first being on Injustice 2. So I am very aware of the casuals being more than pros as a percentage. However - TEKKEN is different from the usual fighting game where casuals having the newer features like ez combo it still can be good. Balance almost never matters to these people. So there are ways to do things to still satisfy your louder player base that isn't your largest. They just don't want to take that path right now. Period.
