Frankie Beverly and Maze is the original SLAB music in Houston. Back then they had a bunch of 6 x 9’s blasting Maze, coming down MLK. Hence the “on a Sunday night, I might bang me some Maze” line from Big Pokey. That was early Houston SLAB music.

Beat King led the charge when it came to Club and Dance music in the south, especially in Texas. It’s sad that we have unfortunately lost another Houston Legend before they’ve had a chance to grow old. Rest in Peace ClubGodZilla 🙏🏿💜

I finished Pac’s authorized biography the other day and one of the coolest things I found was that post Hit ‘Em Up, he really wanted to make things right & unite everyone. He had plans for an album that included Face, OutKast, and Bone Thugs
