Created a model today of how sedimentary rock is formed! "Weathering" larger rocks into sediment. Then seeing erosion and deposition take place in action. Tomorrow we will observe and see how compaction effects it! #SheffieldSHINES @SheffieldElem

These kids are working so hard at multiplying and dividing fractions+whole numbers! Today we finished a bit early so we did a Kahoot to practice some more with matching equations to representations! They were really shining! 🌟💙✨ #SheffieldSHINES @SheffieldElem

These scientists used a microscope for the first time today! 😍 They got to explore plant and animal structures! 🔬 I think I'll leave these out for the rest of the year as an early finisher station! #SheffieldSHINES @SheffieldElem

This semester in Eco Wranglers club we voted on a spring gardening project or turning trash into treasures! They chose the latter! I love making dioramas, so 2 students started making them, too, from recyclables around their house! My heart! #SheffieldSHINES @SheffieldElem

These mathematicians are learning to ❌ fractions! Representations are a huge part of that in 5th! I showed them a few strategies yesterday & today, they put them to work! Today, it clicked! They did them mostly solo! So proud of my scholars! #SheffieldSHINES @SheffieldElem

Lots of students out today due to the upcoming weather but we had a great, cozy day! Allowed the students to work on ⬆️ their grades before progress reports come out next wk + played a math game and a science game!l, bc, duh it's Friday and Fridays are for FUN! #SheffieldSHINES

Today for RTI we modeled partitioning a whole and naming the unit fractions! My students loved this and this activity really assisted them later on in today's lesson when we did something similar and they had some background knowledge! #SheffieldSHINES @SheffieldElem

We've been learning about the Water Cycle. My amazing little artists worked with their groups to make creative posters to demonstrate their knowledge! 💦☁️🌧️ 🏞️✨ #SheffieldSHINES @SheffieldElem

I had no voice today (luckily today's lesson was practice for volume that I previously taught) so the kids took turns playing maestro/a! Kids were talking strategies, respectfully correcting mistakes and using their vocab! ✨#SheffieldSHINES @SheffieldElem

Today we learned about the relationship between the sun 🌞 and the earth 🌍, specifically how the location of the sun in the sky effects shadow placement and size! The students loved the hands on and visual experience of the model. #SheffieldSHINES @SheffieldEle

Science retest on Wednesday so we spent today reviewing the original exam, checking the questions we got wrong, looking for distractors and working with our groups to find the correct answer! Practice over perfection! 😁 #SheffieldSHINES @SheffieldElem
